Fictional Story: Eccentrics -1 （架空の話：変わり者たち(1)）

There is a boy in Japan. He lives in the western part of Japan, the Kansai area. He is thirteen or fourteen years old and in the first grade of junior high school. He has no energy to do anything. He has no interest in studying and used to score low on all the tests he took at school. Among the subjects, he was slightly more interested in English than others. However, he did not work hard and has kept recording lower scores on English tests than average. It was a great disappointment to his parents and especially worried his father. He has often been scolded and told to change his mind and work hard. Sometimes, he has been hit by his father in a fit of anger. Nevertheless, he showed no signs of change.
He is now on the summer holiday. But as usual, he has lived his lazy life with no energy. He has a lot of homework to do, but until yesterday, he was unwilling to work hard on them. In particular, he has shown no sign of working on the biggest hurdle, the art.

日本に一人の少年がいます。西日本の関西に住んでいます。年は13歳か14歳で、中学1年生です。彼は何に対しても無気力です。勉強にも興味がなく、学校のテストはすべて、ひどい点数です。教科の中では、英語だけは他の教科より少し関心を持っています。でも、努力はしません。そのため、英語のテストの点数も、いつも平均点以下です。おかげで、両親はがっかりです。父親は心配し、彼のことをよく叱り、気持ちを入れ替えて頑張るように何度も言っていました。カッとなって、彼を殴ったこともありました。それでも、少年は一向に変わる気配がありません。
この夏休みもダラダラと無気力な生活を続けています。宿題は山ほどあるのですが、昨日まで、取り組む気配はありませんでした。特に、最大の難関である美術の宿題に取り組む気配は、まったくありませんでした。
