July 25, 2024: My Wife’s Support to My Aunt(2) （妻が叔母をサポート－2）

My wife has been of great help to my aunt in Kyoto. She recently found a way to help my aunt. Until she found it, we could only communicate with my aunt on the phone. My aunt was too old, 95 years old, to use more modern tools than the telephone.
But one day, my wife had begun to look for a modern tool that would allow us to see how my aunt was doing without the phone. Then, she found a WiFi tool, which automatically sends us data on how my aunt is doing at home. It also allows us to talk with her face to face. We tested it at our home and bought it as we found nothing wrong. And when she went to Kyoto to see my aunt, she took it with her and set it up in my aunt's home.
As soon as it was set up, we tried the tool between Kyoto and Saitama. It worked well. I could see my aunt's face well and talk to her face to face. My aunt looked very happy to see my face and chat with me face to face, moving me to see how happy she looked. Since then, with the tool, we have more often talked with her. In the beginning, she had a little trouble pressing a button to turn it on. But now, she is getting used to it and has no problem using it. However, it is too early to say that the tool is perfect and could replace the phone. We sometimes have difficulty hearing what she is saying. So, we had better use the phone to talk with her about serious matters. It is only a tool to see how my aunt is doing face to face.
The tool has reassured us that we could easily see how my aunt is doing. It has also helped to energize her. She has been happy to talk with me face to face and is fully motivated to master it. My aunt's brain is still young and flexible enough to cope. She seems to live for a century.
Again, I must be grateful for my wife's efforts to help my aunt.

　ボクの妻は京都にいる叔母の大きな助けになっています。最近、叔母をサポートするための方法を見つけたのです。それまで、ぼくたちは叔母と電話でしかコミュニケーションをとることができませんでした。叔母はもう95歳と高齢のため、電話よりも近代的な機器を使えませんでした。
　でも、ある日、妻が、電話を使わずに叔母の様子を知るためのツールを探し始め、WiFiのツールをを見つけて来ました。これを使うと、叔母の家の様子をデータにして自動的に送ってくれます。また、叔母と顔を合わせて話すこともできます。これを我が家で試したところ、問題なかったので買いました。そして、妻が、叔母に会いに京都に行ったとき、これを持参し、叔母の家にセットアップしてくれました。
　セットアップが終わるとすぐに、京都と埼玉の間でこのツールを使ってみました。うまくいきました。叔母の顔がよく見え、顔を見ながら話すことができました。叔母はボクの顔を見ながら話ができ、すごくうれしそうでした。その様子を見るとこちらまでうれしくなりました。それ以来、このツールを使って叔母と話す機会が増えました。最初のうちは、ボタンを押すのに少し苦労したようですが、今ではすっかり慣れ、問題なく使っています。でも、このツールが完璧で、電話に取って代われると言うのは早計です。叔母が話していることが聞き取りにくいときがあります。そのため、真剣な話をするときは電話を使う必要があります。叔母の様子を知るためだけと割り切って使う必要があります。
　このツールのおかげで、叔母の様子を簡単に知ることができ、ボクたちも安心です。また、叔母を元気づけるのにも役立っています。叔母は、ボクと顔を見ながら話せることがすごくうれしようで、これを使いこなそうと意欲満々です。叔母の頭はまだ若く、柔らかそうです。この様子では、100年は生きられそうです。
　叔母を助けようとする妻の努力に、改めて感謝しなければなりません。
