A Tachibana Tree in Winter / 冬の橘の樹

　　As unable to buy fuel,
　　I wrap myself in a cheap blanket.
　　　灯油が買えないので 　
　　　私は　安物の毛布で身体を包んでいます。
　

　　As the night deepens,
　　it is getting colder and colder.
　　　夜が更(ふ)けるにつれて 　
　　　どんどん　寒さが厳しくなってきます。

　　I don't have enough money,
　　but I still have enough spirit to endure.
　　　私には　お金が足りない
　　　しかし　まだ　耐える気力は足りています。

　　

　　I don't have enough job,
　　but also know that
　　there are people who can't even get such a blanket.
　　　わたしには　仕事が足りない
　　　しかし　私は知っています
　　　こんな毛布さえ　得られない人々がいることも。

　

　　No bullets
　　flying through the streets here.
　　　ここでは弾丸が
　　　街を飛び交うことはありません。
　

　　No bombs
　　are falling from the sky here.
　　　ここでは爆弾が
　　　空から降ってくることもありません。
　

　　In countries where it is now summer,
　　it must be hot and difficult.
　　　今が夏の国々では
　　　暑さで　とても苦労していることでしょう。

　　In Tonga, where a volcano erupted,
　　people don't even have enough water to drink.
　　　火山が噴火したトンガでは
　　　飲み水さえ　充分に手に入らないそうです。　
　　

　　O Tachibana, don't droop your head.
　　　　タチバナよ　うなだれるな。

　　O Tachibana, keep your chest up.
　　　　タチバナよ　胸を張れ。

　　Never let your those green leaves leave you,
　　　　決して　その緑の葉を　手離すな

　　even in the piercing cold wind,　　
　　　　身を切る風に　吹かれても

　　or under the icy snow.
　　　　凍てつく雪に　埋もれても。
　　　　　　

　　You are a Tachibana.
　　　　お前は　タチバナだ。

　　As long as you keep trying catch the light,
　　　　お前が　光を掴つかもうとし続ける限り

　　as long as you keep struggling to stay a Tachibana,
　　　　お前が　タチバナのままでいようと　もがき続ける限り

　　you are still a Tachibana.
　　　　お前は　タチバナなのだ。
　　

　　Nothing can fade your orange awayー
　　　　何も　お前のオレンジを色あせさせることは出来ない──
　

　　not even winter,
　　　　冬であろうと

　　not even summer,
　　　　夏であろうと

　　not even any night
　　without light.
　　　　光のない
　　　　どんな夜で　あろうとも。
