Hosting the AI PIZZA☆SUMMER PARTY

I’m Kenny from the DMC (Division of Marketing & Communications) that was newly established in August.
In 2023, “Generative AI” has become a term that people hear almost every day. I myself am working hard every day to try to make ChatGPT provide more accurate answers for me.
With that said, please let me share with you the events of the “AI PIZZA☆SUMMER PARTY” that took place on August 4th.

■What is the “AI PIZZA☆SUMMER PARTY”
Do you like pizza? Do you want to know more about Generative AI? The “AI PIZZA☆SUMMER PARTY” was an event that satisfied both of those cravings! With pizza and drinks in hand, Endo-san, the CEO of beBit, and Fujii-san, the CCO, explained and introduced Generative AI and led a discussion about the latest topics in a casual atmosphere.
■Preparing for the event
In late July, Fujii-san posted an invitation to the “AI PIZZA☆SUMMER PARTY” in the company’s general Slack channel. Immediately, we received pizza stamps and reactions from everyone! Roughly half of the Japan team expressed their interest to participate, which makes me believe that the collaboration between pizza and AI is a win!
We, the DMC, who were entrusted with the operations of this event, set up the venue and made various arrangements for the many people who were expected to come!
The party venue was the beBit Office’s Center Hall. On the day of the event, we simultaneously streamed it online for those who couldn’t make it to the office.
To establish a relaxed atmosphere to listen to Endo-san and Fujii-san’s talks, we set up tables and prepared chilled drinks and a vast amount of pizza. We prepared a dream-like scenario where you could enjoy a drink in one hand and pizza in the other!
On a side note, we prepared 24 pizzas, with 4 different toppings!
There were so many pizzas that we gave up on delivery and had a DMC member pick up the pies. We were extremely excited to see a pizza pile taller than waist height.
■The party scene
Guests entered the venue and took their seats wherever they liked. Over the course of approximately 2 hours with breaks, everyone enjoyed Endo-san and Fujii-san’s presentation about generative AI while savoring the pizza and drinks of their choice.
With some interesting stories and experiences included, the two spoke mainly about the following three topics:
How the rise of Generative AI is affecting customer experience
The threats posed by AI to customer experience
The opportunities AI brings to customer experience - understanding customers and quality experiences
They discussed in detail how the development of Generative AI impacts beBit and shared their respective thoughts on the matter.
After the presentation, we received many questions both online and offline, feeling everyone’s desire to explore Generative AI further!
■Reactions from the attendees
I’d like to share some feedback we received from the post-event survey with you.
In addition to learning the latest information, it was also an insightful opportunity to get to know the thoughts and personalities of executives like Endo-san and Fujii-san
Thank you for hosting the event! Even though I participated online, I could feel the lively atmosphere of the event offline. It allowed me to enjoy while being able to imagine the scene as well!
I haven’t been able to catch up on ChatGPT myself, so hearing information and the UX design perspectives, especially from Endo-san and Fujii-san, was very enlightening.
While the presentation itself was of course very well received, getting warm and positive feedback regarding the event operations was quite reassuring!
■Lastly
For me personally, being involved in event operations like this was a first, so I was nervous about whether everyone would enjoy it while we prepared for the day. In addition to the warm feedback we received, the sight of the participants having fun definitely made it feel like this event was a success.
While this time around the event only took place in Japanese, we hope to someday be able to deliver the event to everyone in English as well. If we have the opportunity to host events like this in the future, I will be looking forward to everyone’s participation from the bottom of my heart!
