【Inside beBit】Management Department - Shima-san
Inside beBit - A project in which we ask 10 questions about a beBit member's work and personal life. We hope that “Inside beBit” will provide an opportunity to get to know more about the individuals you work with.
In this issue, we asked Shima-san from the Management Department to answer our questions!

1:Tell us about your background
A waiter at a family restaurant, kitchen staff at Hoka-ben, guard at a construction site, beer vendor at the Koshien, private tutor, chiffon cake baker at a coffee shop (these are all jobs I had as a student), truck driver to deliver furniture, Kawasaki Heavy Industries Kobe Works, IT support at a Japanese company in Silicon Valley, E-commerce site construction, Data Center construction management, marketing in America, UX for information systems management and in-house systems (I was here for the longest), establishment of health insurance association, management of a Lobby Company, IT Consulting for hospitals, beBit (current)
2:Why did you join beBit?
I was introduced to the company through an agent, which is a bit of a tasteless reason, but this gave me a chance to speak with the individuals I would work with. The biggest reason I joined was because the people I spoke with seemed to have very similar values to me!
3:Please tell us about the work you do at beBit
I work to organize the environment for those who work at our company. I develop and operate an IT environment that allows people to do meaningful work efficiently and safely.
4:What surprised you the most when you joined beBit?
I’ve been with the company for about 2 years now, but there are still many people I’ve never met in real life because of Covid-19! I wish we could all toast with a beer after company wide meetings…
5:What do you find rewarding about your job?
When I feel that a solution that we have implemented has a clear effect on the efficiency of our employees’ work. It feels amazing when we receive feedback from users that their work has become easier!
6:Tell us what you value most when working
Being aware of the end goal. What is the purpose of this work? I always want to make sure that I am not working for the sake of working.
7:Please tell us about your talent, or anything you are proud of
I always stare at poles and piping in the ceilings. I’m proud to say that one time, I was able to guess the location of a photo that a friend posted on social media that only showed a beer and the ceiling.
When it comes to utility poles, Kyushu’s poles are a bit unique and interesting.
8:Tell us about a UX you recently found amazing
I recently flew on ANA for the first time in a while and asked the flight attendant if I could have a smaller copy of “TSUBASA - GLOBAL WINGS,” an in-flight magazine. Along with receiving the magazine that had returned to its original size (B5), I was thanked for being on board when the inflight magazine was small as well. In addition, they gave my son every kind of postcard and a toy when he mentioned he liked airplanes.
9:What do you do during your free time?
There is a rather large park in my neighborhood where I set up a tent and relax with my son.
10:Tell us about any challenges you would like to attempt
My dream of becoming a Marunouchi office worker, the top of the hierarchy of humanity, has been somewhat fulfilled by joining beBit, so next I would like to become the landlady of a hot spring inn and solve murder cases.
