Research shows
this comes from how sounds
feel when people say them.
Some letters have
soft sounds.
Others feel hard
and sudden.
A name with
many soft sounds
makes us feel the person
is friendly or kind.
A name with
many hard sounds
makes us feel the person
is quick and active.
Two researchers who study
this connection between
sound and impressions
discovered that words in
many languages use similar
sounds for similar words.
However, they found
no relation between
the sounds of names
and personality.
Personalities can change
depending on
the environment
and circumstances
at the time, and are more
colorful than how they sound.

この音と印象の関係を研究している二人の研究者は、多くの言語で似たような言葉には似たような音が使われていることを発見しました。しかし名前の音と性格には関係がないことを発見しました。性格はその時の環境や状況によっても変化したりと、響きよりも色とりどりです。
