Attending Classes to be Blessed

Why do we, students ‘attend’ classes? Why the ‘presence’ to each class, at least, has been, important? Well, taking several college online classes of in the past one month, I’m figuring it is because we were there to ‘be blessed.’ Here’s what I mean:

Teachers I believe are there to teach because they have something to pass on to others―often the younger. ‘Something’ could be pure academic knowledge, wisdom of the forerunners, OR the aspiration or passion to create change for the better. Yes, we the students long to feel it, which brings us to take commuting steps even they are heavy in a rainy dull morning.

ALAS. The magic of online class seem to have turned it into very ‘efficient’ one. In a college, 75-minute classes became 30-minute ones in the cost of time to make students ‘wonder.’ No example to touch our hearts. Fairly efficient ABC. Reports to be submitted, with no feedback in time. For a high school English classes, 10-15-minute movies presented. English grammar skillfully explained. Remember this, remember that. Do what we want you young guys to do and you’ll achieve standardized life (period). Very efficient, very discouraging. Although the exhausting commuting has now been switched to a simple act of ‘turning on a computer,’ my pointer finger finds it quite gloomy.

Of course, there should be teachers who are trying their best to make it lively, mutual and inspirational in the midst of budging period of this on-line lesson standard. I don’t mean to ignore it, but I felt it a pitfall of web-based-shared classes. Speakers could even be a bit more silent in the eyes of colleagues or the ruthless governing bodies. Open network. Also, I respect the power of facts and I believe I know that there’s an art of presenting it with both evil and vicious intentions.

We the students, again, are looking for a light in the night on a voyage. The light should clearly be pointing out where it aims at. Observing this kind of light only, pupils can wonder and decide on where THEY want to head to. We want to be inspired by the blessing. A lecture without thought is not worth 1,700 yen per hour. One part-time student can dare to voice this out, I believe.
