1.  Russia claims to have seized （占拠する）control of the southern Ukrainian city Kherson. The city's mayor says Kherson is surrounded but still under Ukrainian control.

5.  And almost 700,000 people fled （避難する）Ukraine.  The UN says there's a desperate need for shelter medical supplies and clean water.
