H 苦労話② - The Honest struggling II
0123sies の服づくり、山あり谷あり苦労した話。
サンプルがカタチになるまで気が遠〜くなりつつ、毎日コツコツ続けた端折れない裏バナを公開。
ベビー服ブランドを立ち上げる！と、一念発起したのが2022年2月。
ベビー服デザイナーの友人Aちゃんが自宅まで飛んできてくれて、ベビー服づくりのいろはから注意点、適している生地など1から10まで教えてくれた。
一見さんお断りの生地商社まで連れて行ってもらったこともある。
Aちゃんは、合同展示会ニューエナにも駆けつけてくれるし、親身になって力を貸してくれる頼もしい友人。
サンプルの段階で品質管理チェックをしてもらったり、製品としての安心安全はプロフェッショナルに委ねるのがいちばんである。

さて、頭の中にあるアイデアをどうにかして形にしようと、パタンナーさんをググってさがしだし、
いっしょにああでもないこうでもないと議論しながら、縫製縫製書と型紙のデータにおこしてもらった。
そのデータをプリント屋さんに持ち込み、人ひとり収まるくらいの大判紙に印刷してもらい型紙完成。
生地問屋からオーガニックコットンのものを取り寄せ、糸、プラスチックスナップボタン、ボタンを取り付けるためのハンドプレス機などを揃える。
洗濯品質表示タグはデザインまでして業者に作ってもらった。
プロのベビー服デザイナーAちゃん、パタンナーさんや、縫製職人さんと意思疎通のために、縫製の専門用語、繊維の知識・生地の種類、洗濯品質表示の項目、ベビー・子供服の研究を丸メガネの奥が ③③ 勉三さんになるまで猛勉強！
しつこい？ケタケタw
縫製職人さんをどーにかこーにかググってさがし、材料を郵送して、やっとこさっとこサンプル品をつくってもらえるところまで辿り着く。
ぜぇぜぇ…山頂まで、まだまだほど遠い。
プロに相談しながら、失敗を繰り返して何度も何度も手直し。
オーガニックコットン×色の楽しさ、着せやすさ×長く使えることを大切にした服が完成した。
・色のあるオーガニックコットン
肌心地がよくて目に楽しい服は、着る人・着せる人の気分を上げてくれる。
・ポリエステルの糸、ポリウレタン混紡生地
お着替えさせるママやパパが着せやすいこと、長く着せれることを重視。
※伸縮性による着せやすさを重視してポリエステル（プラスチック）製の縫製糸を、
長く着せれてもヨレヨレになってしまったら元も子もないことからポリウレタン（ゴム）混紡生地のリブを一部で採用することにした。
ポリエステルは、合成繊維。地球に還るには、何百年とかかるそうだ…。
そういえば、環境に配慮した “エコな服” といえばと、真っ先に頭に浮かんだのは『土に還る服』だった。
コットンは、天然繊維。土に埋めると、地球に還る🌱
そこで、生地、縫製糸、洗濯品質表示タグなど、すべてコットン素材にすればいいのでは？と、”エコな服” つくりを試みた。
結果はというと…
ニット生地をコットン糸で縫うと、糸がズタズタに切れて縫い上げることができなかった。がびーん。
実践をしてみて、できること／できないことを思い知ったのでした。
サスティナブル100%なものづくりがスタンダードの時代は来るんだろうか？
生分解性プラスチック製のBIO糸を使ったり、オーガニックコットンやリサイクルコットンにすべて切り替わっていくのか…。
今のところ、もやもやが残ったままである。
縫製の素人が服づくりにのめり込んで、ブランドを立ち上げるまでに至った原動力は…苦労話①にて明らかに！

The journey of creating 0123sies® was no walk in the park—more like a rollercoaster ride of challenges and determination. Here’s a peek behind the curtains of our creation process and the efforts that went into bringing our ideas to life.
From a Spark of Inspiration to Brand Launch
It all began in February 2022, when I made a resolute decision: I’m starting a baby clothing brand! My dear friend A, a professional babywear designer, rushed to my side. From the basics of baby clothing design to fabric recommendations and industry-specific insights, she taught me everything I needed to know. She even took me to an exclusive fabric trading company—one that doesn’t cater to first-timers.
Building a Support Network
A has been a rock throughout this journey, attending trade shows like New Ena to support us and sharing her expertise. She oversaw quality checks during the sample stage, ensuring that the safety and reliability of our products were in professional hands. A heartfelt thank you to her!
On my end, I dove headfirst into turning vague ideas into tangible products. With the help of a pattern maker I found online, we painstakingly debated every detail to create patterns and specifications. These were printed onto large sheets, sourced from organic cotton suppliers, and combined with buttons, threads, and care tags—all designed for this project.
Immersing Myself in the Craft
To effectively communicate with professionals—designers, pattern makers, and seamstresses—I crammed like a student, studying sewing jargon, fiber types, and garment care symbols. My glasses probably made me look like a caricature of a nerdy scholar. 😂
Eventually, I tracked down skilled seamstresses, shipped materials to them, and finally managed to produce sample items. The road was far from smooth, but each trial and error taught valuable lessons.
Balancing Sustainability and Practicality
As a mother, I prioritize clothes that are both comfortable and functional. Here’s what defines 0123sies®:
Organic Cotton with Vibrant Colors: These ensure a gentle touch on the skin while lifting the spirits of both the child wearing them and the parent dressing them.
Stretchy Fabrics for Easy Dressing: While cotton is eco-friendly, its rigidity presented a challenge. To enhance functionality and durability, we incorporated polyester threads and polyurethane-blended ribbing in certain areas. These choices prioritize usability, though they carry environmental trade-offs.
Chasing the Ideal of 100% Eco-Friendliness
Initially, we aimed to make entirely biodegradable clothing, using natural materials like cotton for every component. However, the reality hit hard during production: sewing knit fabrics with cotton threads caused the stitches to snap apart. Back to the drawing board!
This experience highlighted the complexities of achieving fully sustainable fashion. While biodegradable plastic threads and recycled fabrics may someday become the standard, for now, compromises remain.
Looking Ahead
As a novice in garment production, the drive to create this brand stemmed from one core motivation: a deep desire to provide the best for children. Though challenges persist, our commitment to balancing sustainability, practicality, and joy in our designs remains unwavering.
