The pursuit of functionality and productivity is important for the development of humanity and society, and for individuals to enjoy better lives.
But can we simply bury those things that fall through the net of such pursuits as relics of the past?
Probably it is precisely in times like these that your geek world becomes more aromatic.

It is a well-known story that Coco Chanel, who loved riding horses, wore men's riding trousers and rode proudly astride a horse.
Women of the time used side saddles when riding horses and sat sideways while wearing long skirts.
Chanel thought this was impractical and designed comfortable riding trousers for women.
Here, too, Chanel is credited with liberating women from existing values.

The side saddle, known as the 'Queen's saddle', was developed in late medieval Europe to allow women to ride safely while wearing long skirts. Improvements were made and the saddle became widely used in England in the late 19th century, in conjunction with the women's horse-riding boom of the time.

The background to this popularisation was deeply related to the values and aesthetics of British society at the time.
It was considered vulgar for women to straddle a horse, or even to show their legs.

Side saddles enabled women to ride gracefully and elegantly, and are said to have made a significant contribution to the history of women's horse-riding.
Although the side saddle enabled a graceful riding style, it is actually said to be unhealthy for both the rider and the horse, as it places an extra burden on them.

In this light, Chanel's designs for women's riding fashion were practical, functional and friendly to both the rider and the horse.
And for her and those who favoured her fashion, the side saddle was a relic of the past that constrained women and should be discarded.

Having said that, am I the only one who finds the riding style of the sidesaddle, with its long, fluttering skirts and galloping riding style, indescribably beautiful and mysterious?

The beauty of thick ice cracks is awe-inspiring.
With that beauty comes danger.
There is a mysterious fascination there that safe, functional skating rinks do not have.

I wonder if we can decide the value of things based solely on functionality and practicality.
I believe that our lives are enriched and coloured in some aspects by things that seem useless or meaningless at first glance.

While there are many different values, I want to put the value on the things I find beautiful and my sensitivity to them.
This is because I believe that in your geek world, where time, money and effort are spent on things that seem useless, your obsessions and personality are breathing.
