応募書類の書き方（つづき）
梅雨らしい天気が続きますがみなさんいかがお過ごしでしょうか。私はあの方対策の注射を打ったので、家でグロッキーになっています。
さて、ボーナス狙いなのか色んなところでセールが始まっています。私も朝から欲しいものがあってパソコンの前でセール開始を待っていました。１点ものだったので何とかカートに入れたにも関わらず、次の購入画面に移動すると「カートには何も入っていません。」という悲しいお知らせのみが画面に表示されました。先日買った宝くじも結局当たらず、またしばらく働かなければならないのかとあきらめています。こんな風に精神が弱ってくると占いに逃げることが多かったのですが、最近占い結果に期待し過ぎて、結局予想通りにいかず凹むことがしばしばだったので、占いもあまり見なくなってしまいました。
どうやら私は昔から運の悪いことが多かったように思います。これまで運がよかったことと言えば、志望していた高校に合格した時と仕事でヘッドハンティングされた時、そして大学教員になった時ぐらいしか思い浮かびません。もちろん博士号を取得した時もうれしかったのですが、上記３つよりは少しうれしさが減っているような気がします。（喜びよりも安堵感の方が大きかったからでしょう。）今日はあの方対策の注射を打って体調がすぐれないことで、弱気な自分に追い打ちをかけられているようです。
こんなネガティブなことばかり書いていてもつまらないので、大学教員になるときの応募書類をどんな風に作成していたか思い出してみようかと思います。（ひょっとすると他の大学にまた応募書類を出すかもしれないので、一応その準備も兼ねています。）
まず、大学教員の応募書類は大学によってすべてフォーマットが違うということと、結構お金がかかることを注意しておかなければなりません。私も３０校以上応募しましたが、そのほとんどが独自のフォーマットでした。そのため、ほぼ一から作成しなければなりません。細かいところですが、履歴書を元号かあるいは西暦か指定してくる大学もあります。また、論文等の抜き刷りも別途添付しなければなりません。これが大抵の場合、複数部必要との指示が多いので、これのコピー代もばかにならないのです。返却が必要な場合は、「返送用の封筒と切手を貼って同封しなさい。」とか指示している場合もありますが、返送されるということは採用されないという返事なので、私は一度も返送用封筒をつけたことはありませんでした。
私が応募書類で弱かったのが、教育歴でのアピールポイントでした。非常勤講師はいくつかしていたのですが、やはり経験値が少なかったように思います。逆に私は実務歴が長かったので、そのことをアピールしたかったのですが、意外と記入する欄がないのです。別途職務経歴書を付けたこともありましたが、あまり指定された以外の書類を同封してもプラスにならないのではないかと思い、途中から入れるのをやめました。今でこそ「実務家教員」が求められているところもあるようですが、私が応募した４年前ではそれほど必要とされていなかったようです。（最近、大学のHPやシラバスにやたら私の実務歴を掲載されていますが…。）
一方、郵送ですが大半が書留郵便もしくは簡易書留郵便で送付するように指示されています。（詳しくは郵便局HPhttps://www.post.japanpost.jp/service/fuka_service/kakitome/index.htmlを参照してください。）応募当初は「書留郵便」と指示あったところは真面目に「書留郵便」にして送っていました。しかし、ある時郵便局の人から「書留郵便も簡易書留郵便もあまり変わりませんよ。簡易書留郵便の方が安いのでそちらにした方がいいですよ。」と勧められて以来、その後はすべて簡易書留郵便で送っています。
書類の中身を充実させることも大事なのですが、その一方で細かい作業が結構多いので、もし大学教員を応募される場合は、早め早めの準備をされた方がよいと思います。これから大学教員になる人には、事務作業も疎かにせずにできる人がなってほしいと思います。

The rainy season continues, how is everyone? I got a shot for him, so he's groggy at home.
Well, the sale has started in various places as a bonus. I've been waiting in front of my computer for the sale since this morning. I managed to get it into my cart because it was a one-of-a-kind item, but when I went to the next purchase screen only the sad "There is nothing in the cart." notice appeared on the screen. After all, I didn't win the lottery I bought the other day, so I'm giving up thinking I'll have to work again for a while. I used to run away to fortune-telling when my mind became weak like this, but recently I've been expecting too much from the results of fortune-telling, and it didn't go as I expected, so I haven't looked at fortune-telling very much.
I think I've had a lot of bad luck since the old days. The only luck I've ever had is when I got accepted to the high school I was applying to, when I got headhunted for a job, and when I became a college teacher. Of course I was happy when I got my doctorate, but I feel a little less happy than the three above. (I think it was because there was more relief than joy.) I got a shot for him today, and he's not feeling well, so he seems to be getting hit by his weakness.
It's not boring to write all this negative stuff, so I'm going to try to remember how I used to fill out applications to become a university teacher. (I might submit the application form to another university, so I am also preparing for it.)
First of all, you have to be careful that the format of the application for the university teacher is different depending on the university and it costs a lot of money. I also applied to over 30 schools, most of which were in their own formats. So you have to create it almost from scratch. Some universities ask you to specify the year or the year on your resume. Also, you need to attach a copy of the paper separately. In most cases, this will require multiple copies, so the cost of copying this is not negligible. If it needs to be returned, I may tell them to "Enclose it with a return envelope and stamp.", but since returning means not being accepted, I have never attached a return envelope.
The weak point of my application was the appeal point of my education history. I had a few part-time instructors, but I didn't have much experience. On the other hand, I had a long working history, so I wanted to show that, but surprisingly there was no space to fill in. There was a time when I attached my resume separately, but I thought it would not be beneficial to include documents other than those specified so I stopped including them in the middle. There seems to be a demand for "practical teachers" now, but it didn't seem to be that much when I applied 4 years ago. (You have recently posted my work history on the university's website and syllabus on ....)
On the other hand, most of them are sent by registered mail or simple registered mail. (For more information, see the post office website at https://www.post.japanpost.jp/service/fuka_service/kakitome/index.html.) When I applied, I seriously sent "registered mail" where I was instructed to send by "registered mail". However, one time someone at the post office advised me to "There is not much difference between registered mail and simple registered mail. Simple registered mail is cheaper, so you should choose that one.", and since then I have been sending everything by registered mail.
It is important to enrich the contents of the documents, but on the other hand, there are a lot of detailed work, so if you apply for a university teacher, I think you should prepare early. I want people who will become university teachers to be able to do office work without neglecting it.
