「鹿島神宮」の荘厳な境内で心の洗濯を！【茨城県鹿島市】
鹿島神宮を参拝しました。鹿島神宮は、茨城県鹿嶋市にある日本の古社で、紀元前660年に創建されたとされています。御祭神である武甕槌大神（たけみかづちのおおかみ）は、武道と力の神として広く崇拝されており、古くから歴史的な武将や戦士たちが祈りを捧げてきました。神宮は「すべての始まりの地」として知られ、現在も国内外から多くの参拝者が訪れるパワースポットです。
広大な境内には、茂密な樹木が息づく「鹿島神宮樹叢」が広がり、樹齢数百年のシイやタブの木が力強くそびえています。この自然豊かなエリアは茨城県の天然記念物にも指定され、四季折々で異なる顔を見せる美しい景観が楽しめます。初夏の新緑や秋の紅葉が特に見事で、参拝者に安らぎとエネルギーを与えてくれます。
また、「鹿園」では約20頭の鹿が飼育され、訪れた人々が鹿たちに餌をあげることもできます。この鹿たちは「神の使い」として敬われており、奈良の春日大社との深い縁もあり、神聖な存在として今も鹿島神宮の象徴となっています。
神社内には、かつて参拝前に禊（みそぎ）を行ったとされる「御手洗池」もあり、湧水は1日40万リットル以上も湧き出る清らかな水がたたえられています。この池で湧き水を汲むこともできるため、持参したボトルに汲んで持ち帰る方も多く、神聖な水を家庭で楽しむことができます。
さらに、鹿島神宮は年間を通して多彩な祭事を行っています。特に、12年に一度催される「御船祭」や、毎年3月に行われる「祭頭祭」は、迫力のある神輿や華やかな衣装を纏った行列が鹿嶋の街を彩り、国内外の観光客にとって大きな見どころとなっています。

Kashima Shrine, located in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is a historic shrine founded in 660 B.C., dedicated to the deity Takemikazuchi-no-Okami, the god of martial arts and strength. Renowned as "the origin of all," it continues to be a popular destination, attracting numerous visitors both domestically and internationally.
Within the vast grounds lies the Kashima Shrine Juso, a dense woodland area with hundreds-of-years-old trees like shi and tab oaks that reach towards the sky. This natural space is designated as a Natural Monument of Ibaraki Prefecture and offers scenic beauty throughout the seasons, with lush greenery in early summer and striking autumn foliage bringing peace and energy to visitors.
Additionally, the “Deer Garden” houses around 20 sacred deer, which are revered as divine messengers. Visitors can enjoy feeding these deer, which symbolize the shrine’s long-standing connection with Nara’s Kasuga Taisha, making them a cherished presence at Kashima Shrine.
Within the shrine complex, the Mitarashi Pond, a sacred water source producing over 400,000 liters daily, allows visitors to bottle its water to take home. This tranquil pond was once used for purification rites, adding to its spiritual significance.
Kashima Shrine also hosts a series of vibrant festivals year-round. Among them, the "Ofune Festival," held once every twelve years, and the annual "Saigusa Festival" in March are standout events where colorful costumes and lively processions bring excitement and a sense of history to Kashima.
