TOGETEN in Taipeiスタートです

TOGETENの最初の舞台は、台北です。
台北のTOGETENでは、○○(都市と一見関わりが見えにくいもの)×台北でご紹介していきます。

暑さと台北 ①

　まず、台北に到着し、感じたのが「暑い」だ。台北は、6月になってすぐだが、30℃を超える猛暑日が続き、視察中も汗でクタクタで溶けそうだった。そして、台北視察の間、私が暑さから逃れるときに助けになったのが「騎楼(きろう)」である。

　騎楼は、大き目な道路に面している建物の一階部分が奥深く空いており、歩行者が歩けるようになっている空間である(サムネイルの1階部分のもので、下記の写真のような空間である)。

　台湾では、バイクの路駐や日差しの強さ、急なスコールが多く、外を歩くのが億劫になりやすい。このような障害物が多い台湾で、歩行者を守り、ウォーカビリティを保つために導入されたのが、騎楼である。
　また面白かったのが、騎楼の横には歩道がある場所も多い。また、最近では、歩行者優先化が進む中で、歩行者の妨げとなるバイクの路駐がないところも増えてきているようだった。しかし、台北にいる人のほとんどが、有無を言わさず歩道ではなく、騎楼を歩く(上写真参照)。それは、やはり「暑さを免れるため」である。なので、台湾の騎楼は、暑さから生まれた都市の風景であるといえる。

　さらに、台湾の大通りに面する建物の1階のほとんどは、商業用途になっている。そして、目の前にあるお店は騎楼を自由にデザインしてよい。そのため、店によってそのデザインはぜんぜん違う。このように、形はそろっているが、それぞれの特色は全くと異なっている面白さがあるのも騎楼の特徴だった。

商品を陳列しているドラックストアの騎楼。商品を置くのは、顧客獲得にはよいが、歩行者のウォーカビリティの確保的にはグレーゾーンのよう。

YOSHINOYAは、期間限定商品の暖簾を飾っていた。ちなみに、この左隣の部屋に泊まってました。

The beginning of TOGETEN is in Taipei. we will introduce relation ○○ (things that at first glance seem to have little apparent connection with the city) and  Taipei.

When I arrived in Taipei, I felt so hot and very humid. Even though it was the beginning of June, it had been a hot summer day. During this trip, “Qi−lou” helped me to keep off heat. Qi-lou is a fascinating space prepared for pedestrians to walk comfortably. The buildings looking onto the broad roads have to create due to improve walkability. In Taiwan, there are many motorbikes on the sidewalk. Also, the sunlight was huge and strong. squalls occur so many times. They prevent pedestrians from walking comfortably and safely. Many Taiwanese walk on the Qi-lou regardless of whether there are motorbikes on the sidewalk or not. So, the Taiwanese walk in Qi-lou to save us from sunlight. We can say it "the Urban landscape is created by Strong sunshine and the humid temperature" in Taiwan. Furthermore, ground-floor located by the Board roads were used for commercial in Taipei. And these shops and stores can design the qi−lou freely. their designs were so different every qi−lou. It’s interesting to me that every Qi-lou has different designs although their shape is the same.
