Hello everyone, welcome to today’s episode of my podcast! This podcast is about my daily life in Brisbane, Australia as a native Japanese-speaking learner of English. This podcast is bilingual, using both English and Japanese.
皆様こんにちは 今日も聞いてくださってありがとうございます。この Podcast はオーストラリア ブリスベンに住んでいる私が「ねぇ聞いて。こんなことがあったの」という出来事を英語 日本語の両方使って話す Voice logをお届けする ポッドキャストです。

In today's episode, I would like to talk about the trip to Sydney, Australia.
今日は先日行ってきたシドニー旅行についてお話をしたいと思います。
I think some of you already know where Sydney is because Sydney is a quite famous city in Australia. Even though I have lived in Australia for almost five years, I have never gone sightseeing in Sydney; I went there for transit.
ご存知の方も多いと思うのですが、シドニーはオーストラリアにある一番有名な都市ですね。私オーストラリアに5年住んでいるのですが、シドニー観光したことがないんですよね。乗り継ぎでしか使ったことがないんです。
Sydney is located in the New South Wales state, so from Brisbane, it takes around 1 1/2 hours to get there by flight.
シドニーはニューサウスウェールズ州というところにあります。ブリスベンから行くと1時間半で行ける場所です。
I went there with my friends to see one of my favourite musicals, Miss Saigon. It's a little bit sad just to go there only to see that musical, so we went there for two nights in total. One night is for that musical; the other night for brief sightseeing in Sydney, so I will tell you what I did and where we went.
今回のメインの目的は、ミスサイゴンと言うミュージカルを見に行くことでした。ただ、ミュージカルだけ見に行くのはちょっと寂しいので、2泊して観光もすることになりました。なので、1日はミュージカルのため、もう1日はシドニー観光と言う感じですね。 そんなわけで、今日はシドニーで行ったところなどや何をしたかについてお話をさせていただきます
On the first day, we took a flight at 9:30 from the Brisbane domestic airport. We used Rex airline, which I have never used, so I was a little bit sceptical about the airline. The price is almost the same as Jetstar, so we didn't expect any service such as coffee or a small snack on the flight.
1日目は、ブリスベン国内線9時半の飛行機に乗りました。Rex エアラインと言う今まで使ったことがない航空会社で行きました。ちょっと(失礼ですが)大丈夫かなと思っていたんです。価格がジェットスターと大体同じで、サービスもあんまり良くないのかなあと思っていたんですよね。(コーヒーが出たりとかはしないとか、突然キャンセルになるとかあるのかなと思っていました)
However, surprisingly, they offered coffee service and some small snacks, and we were able to check baggage up to 23 kg, which is really good. Apparently, the airline flies only within Australia. Therefore, they offer affordable flight tickets.
ただ、機内でコーヒーやスナックのサービスがあったり、23キロまで 荷物を預けることができるようでした。 どうやら、オーストラリアの中だけを飛んでいる航空会社だそうで、国際線等はなくてその分良いサービスをお手頃なお値段で提供しているなと思いました。
Anyway, after we arrived in Sydney, we went to our accommodation. We booked a hotel close to Sydney Central, so it takes around two minutes from Townhall station. The accommodation is quite convenient; it's not fancy but functional enough. We were planning to go out almost all day, except for sleeping or taking a shower, so that's enough for us.
そんなわけで、シドニーに着きましてまずはホテルに行きました。私たちはシドニーの中心部に近い所のホテルをとっていました。タウンホールと言う中心部から2分位で行けるところですね。立地はとても便利でした。すごく綺麗と言うホテルでは無いですが、まぁ 寝に帰るのにはちょうどいいかなと言う感じですね。私たちはいろいろ歩きまわる予定があったので、寝るのと、シャワーを浴びる以外特にホテルに滞在する予定はなかったので、最低限のものだけついていればいいかなと言う感じでした。

After we checked into the hotel, we headed off to Manly, a famous beach close to Circular Quay, which is the wharf in Sydney. We took a ferry to get there. It was amazing to take a ferry because we could see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge beautifully from the ferry.
ホテル にチェックインした後は、マンリーと言う場所に向かいました。サーキュラーキーと言う上埠頭からすぐに行ける有名なビーチです。
(ボンダイビーチの方が有名だと思いますが、時間がかかるのでこっちにしました)
私たちは公共交通機関のフェリーを使って行きました。 すごく良かったですよ。フェリーからオペラハウスとかハーバーブリッジも見られましたしね。
At that time, we were hungry, so when we arrived in Manly, we went to a restaurant to have a late lunch. We ate just salad and calamari, but I think that amount is huge and the seafood is fresh, so it was enough for us. Then, of course, because of the holiday, we had some champagne in the afternoon.
マンリーに着いたら、お腹空いていたので、とりあえず遅めのランチを食べました。あんまりたくさん食べるタイプの私たちではないので、サラダとイカのフライを注文しました。思ってたよりもたくさんあって、シーフードもとっても新鮮でもう満足でした。もちろんお休みなので、昼からシャンパンを飲みました。
Afterwards, we walked a bit to a smaller beach. I realised that there are lots of people in Sydney, so I felt it was a little bit busier than Brisbane. Then we headed back to our accommodation where we had a relaxing time.
その後は、中心部から少し離れた小さいビーチにお散歩しました。 ここで気づいたんですが、シドニーってどこに行っても人がすごいいるんですね。ブリスベンに比べると人ひとって言う感じでしょうか。まぁそんなわけで、マンリーを満喫しまして、ホテルに戻ってちょっとリラックスタイムを
入れました。
As we had a light lunch, we were a bit hungry again, so we googled some good restaurants and found out a tapas restaurant near our accommodation, so we went there. I haven't had sangria for a while, and because of the tapas restaurant, we could have it. The food was also a very good size, just snack level and not a huge amount, which is amazing.
お昼ご飯軽めだったので、すぐお腹空きました。そして、近くの良いレストランないかなとググって、ホテルの近くにあるタパスレストランに行くことにしました。タパスのレストランは、サングリアがあったんですよ。産後には飲んでいなかったので家を嬉しかったですね。もちろんタパスなので居酒屋のように少ない量のご飯がちょびちょび出てくるので、つまみが欲しいタイプの私たちには最高のレストランでしたね。
Then we went to a bottle shop and bought New South Wales beer, drank it, and then went to bed.
サングリアものみましたが、その後お酒屋さんに行って、ニューサウスウェールズのブリューワリーのビールを買ってホテルに戻って飲みました。(オーストラリアは地域によって買えるビールなどが変わるので、これも旅行の醍醐味かと思います)
I think I've talked a lot about it in detail. This will make for a long podcast episode, so I've now decided to split it into two or three episodes. I will talk about what we did on Day 2 and Day 3 in the next episode.
私、結構詳しく話してますね。これ3日話すとすごく長くなるなと今気がついたので、シドニー旅行記は2つか3つのエピソードに分けようかなぁと思います。次のエピソードで2日目3日目などを話していこうかと思っています
So, to summarise today's episode, I talked to you about mainly three points: number one, I went to Sydney, Australia, which is located in New South Wales; number two, I went there with my friend using the Rex airline; and number three, I talked about the places we went to on the first day in Sydney, which are Manly and a great tapas restaurant."
そんなわけで、今日のエピソードでは3つの事についてお話をしました。
1つ目 シドニーに行ったということ
2つ目 お友達とレックスエアラインを使って行ったこと。
3つ目 シドニーでの1日目についてお話しをしました。マンリーに行った事とタパスレストランに行った事ですね
