再会 in Rabat / Reunion in Rabat

この日、カサブランカから首都ラバトへ。
Today I traveled from Casablanca to the capital, Rabat.
ちょうど目の前にイタリアンカラーな車が
9.95MAD(約150円)
安くて美味かったけど、250mlはさすがに少ない…
I bought an Italian beer and there was an Italian-colored car right in front of me.
It was 9.95 MAD (about 150 yen).
It's cheaper and more delicious, but the 250ml bottle was a bit too small...

The clean and modern station is simple and easy to understand, the Wi-Fi is strong,
and the station staff are very friendly.

After asking where the train was going,
I became friends with a Moroccan couple.
We took a commemorative photo.
I was also given instant noodles, which I was grateful for.
He living in Italy.
Apparently, they spent several dozen days on honeymoon driving around Italy.
"It was a better memory than a trip to a luxury hotel,"
said the wife.
I agree.

なぜ急ぎ足でカサブランカを発ち、列車でここに来たのか。
それは昨年末、トルコはイスタンブールで出会ったノウフェルと会う為だった。
Why did I hurriedly leave Casablanca and come here by train?
It was to meet Noufell, whom I met in Istanbul, Turkey, at the end of last year.
彼とは同じ部屋で数日過ごし、共に街へ繰り出し
夜中に2人で語り合ったりなどした思い出がある
In December 2023,
I spent a few days in the same room as him,
went out to the city together, and had fun talking late into the night.
彼らとは今でも交流がある
They were great members
and I still keep in touch with them.
そんなノウフェルが、ラバトの鉄道駅で私を出迎えてくれた。
8ヶ月振りの再会に湧き、勢いそのまま彼の案内で市内を練り歩く。
Noufer met me at the train station in Rabat.
We were so excited to see each other again after eight months, that we walked around the city with him as our guide.

母国モロッコで見る彼は、尚更活き活きしているようだった。
Seeing him in his native Morocco,
he seemed even more lively.
前に進めない…
We can't move forward because of the crowds that are as big as Takeshita Street in Harajuku...
街が綺麗で
どこか上品な雰囲気が漂っている
Rabat is a beautiful city
with a somewhat elegant atmosphere,
probably because it is where government agencies are located.
観光客としては、あの”帽子みたいな蓋”も
写真に収めたかったんだけど、ローカルな店なので
配膳と同時に持っていっちゃうよね…
でも美味い
蒸し焼きにされた野菜はホクホクで優しい甘みが
牛肉もしっかり旨味が出ている
ホブス、ジュースと合わせて
56MAD(約843円)
The first tajine
I wanted to take a picture of the "hat-like lid",
but it's a local restaurant, so they took it away soon when the food was served...
But it's delicious.
Steamed vegetables were soft and sweet,
and the beef was also very tasty.
With the juice and hobs
the price was 56 MAD (about 843 yen).
食事中、野良ネコがやって来て私達の料理を欲しそうに眺めていたので、私とノウフェルはパンを少しちぎってあげた。
健康を考え、塩分が無い部分を床に置いたのだが、それが気に入らなかったのか、ネコは口にしなかった。
While we were eating, a stray cat came and looked longingly at our food, so Naoufal and I tore off a bit of bread for him.
Thinking of his health, we put the salt-free part on the floor, but perhaps the cat didn't like that, and didn't eat it.
「野良で、いつまた食べられるかわからないのに拒否するなんて、このネコは馬鹿だ」
ノウフェルがそう呟いた後、そのネコは彼に飛びかかって爪を立てた。
「アウッ！くそっ、何すんだコイツ！」
それを見て、私が応える。
「ハハハッ、この子はきっと君の言葉がわかるんだよ」
"This cat is stupid to refuse food when he's a stray and doesn't know when he'll be fed again."
After Naoufal muttered this,
the cat jumped on him and attacked at him.
"Agh! Damn it, what is he doing?"
Seeing this, I replied,
"Hahaha, I think this cat can understand your language"
Noufel saw me off to my accommodation.
「今日は素晴らしい日だった」
「うん、また会おう」
去りゆく彼を今度は私が見送り、この日は終わった。
明日、彼は自身の生まれ故郷フェスへ。
私はもう少しラバトに滞在することにした。
"Today was a great day."
"Yeah, let's meet again."
I saw him off as he left, and the day ended.
Tomorrow he will going to his hometown of Fes.
And I decided to stay in Rabat a little longer.
最近、たまに思うことがある。
皆は旅が終わると、その最中に出会った人は過去になるのか。
それで終わりなのだろうか。
Recently, I have been thinking about this from time to time.
When everyone finishes their journey, do the people they met during that journey become a thing of the past?
Is that the end?
そうかもしれない。
でも、そうじゃないかもしれない。
Maybe so, but maybe not.
どうなるかはわからないが、そうじゃないことを願う。
少なくとも私は、そういうつもりで旅をしている。
I don't know what will happen, but I hope it won't be.
At least, that's what I'm traveling with that mind.
