Encouraging children to go to cramming schools has become the norm in this contemporary society. There has been a common belief that educational attainment has direct impacts on whether or not we can lead a satisfactory life, such as gaining a high income and climbing a corporate ladder. Due to this deep-rooted idea, innumerable parents in many parts of the world have an avid interest in boosting their children's academic test scores under the pretext that academic success enables them to succeed in the foreseeable future.

Nevertheless, my thoughts do not align with this trend mentioned above. As far as I am concerned, allowing children to explore various opportunities to live is indispensable in modern society. Admittedly, the attempt to provide children a chance to study industriously positively influences their development as they are capable of better understanding the importance of making efforts, which surely boosts their confidence. Furthermore, a growing body of evidence suggests that children with high educational accomplishments tend to be wealthy especially in meritocratic systems.

Despite these positive aspects presented earlier, it is important to pay attention to children's mental conditions. To illustrate this point, it has been widely pointed out that countless children suffer from parental pressures. Specifically, if children get mediocre scores in mock exams, nor can they pass the entrance exam successfully, their parents often apply excessive amounts of pressure on them to gain satisfactory test results. As a consequence, accumulation of unreasonable pressure is accompanied by children's worsening mental conditions and affective disturbances. In the worst-case scenario, family structure can be destroyed owing to children's erratic behaviours stemming from academic pressure.

To tackle this, I firmly believe that teaching children the fact that academic success is not the best answer to lead a happy life is an essential factor. In this increasingly competitive world, parents' desires for their children to succeed are to some extent understandable, but their excessive pressure puts a huge burden on youngsters. Rather than forcing children to study strenuously in order for them to pass the exam of prestigious universities and famous companies, the most important thing I would like to propose is to let them explore what they really want to do. By doing so, numerous children nurture their abilities to develop their communication skills and make significant contributions to their personal growth.

One of the best strategies in terms of solutions I suggested is to allow children to touch the beauty of nature. Surrounded by the abundance of electronic gadgets such as personal computers and mobile phones, they cannot really appreciate how much they owe to the presence of nature. Through prompting children to deepen their appreciation for the beauty of nature, they surely enhance their abilities to empathise with daily things they have taken granted for, which allows them to develop personal growh in a positive manner.
