To Know Cucumber

今回は先週のNoteを英語で書いてみるという試みをしてみる。

なお、英語で書いてみるにあたり、情報を付け足したり表現をだいぶ変えた部分が多いので、先週のnoteの完全な英訳ではない。

また、不自然な英語になっていたり間違っていたりすることがあると思うがご容赦いただきたい。

English Version: To Know Cucumber

It is generally said that 95 percent of a cucumber is made of water and 5 percent is made of other nutrients. In other words, water occupy a great part of cucumber.

Then, dose it mean a cucumber is same as water?
I think that is wrong.

To Eat a Cucumber

A cucumber is not same as water even if it consists of great part of water.

Let's imagine that you put a cucumber and glass of water in front of you. Anyone asked you, "Are they same?". Then, you could answer "No".

However, from another point of view, when you heard that "water occupy a great part of cucumber", it gives rise to idea that drinking same amount of water as that contained in cucumber is more efficient than eating a cucumber.

Considering this, I came up the idea that eating a cucumber might be efficient if you want to get nutrients other than water contained in cucumber. But is this really true?

To Know Identity of Cucumber

When I searched on the internet, I got the information that cucumber contains nutrients which are good for health and beauty, such as potassium and vitamin C. Considering this information, you could assume that eating cucumber is different from drinking water.

Then, does it mean that other nutrients make the identity of cucumber?
I think it is also wrong.

I suppose all features, such as consisting of great part of mater, containing nutrients which are good for health and beauty, and being green and juicy, make the identity of cucumber.

To Know Something

If I had not known that water occupy a great part of cucumber, my image of cucumber might not be changed.
I feel that knowing something is scary. When I had got this information, I had presume that drinking water is more efficient.

However, it is true that I could know that a cucumber is a nutritious vegetable. Knowing something is scary, but it enables us to see the new world which we had never known.

Thus, I thought we might miss the opportunity of seeing the new world if we fear knowing.
