Day 8_MBA Journey_Excel Boot Camp and Learning Key Concepts
Need to learn Excel and become a master of it if I want to fully utilize data to support my argument in the future as a business leader. It was somewhat reflection of what I already knew, what it was very productive time to refresh my knowledge, learn new functions and train my analytical thinking.
Here are some of the terms and functions I learnt from the classes today.
1. Measures of Central Tendency:
Mean: average
Mode: the number appear/repeat the most i a data set
Median: number in the middle
2. Variance: average distance to the mean (squared. why? because distance from the bottom of the line to the mean can be negative, which needs to be squared in order to make it positive as distance cannot be negative)
3. Standard Deviation: average distance to the mean
4. Useful Graph to analyze data: histogram, box plot, pivot table
5. Useful Functions in Excel: Addition, Sum, Average, formula, COUNT, Average, function, COUNTA, COUNTIF, SUMIF, vlookup, Data analysis (descriptive analysis, histogram, regression)
Worked until 21:00 to get done with my assignment, but only up to 30%. Heading out to meet my great colleagues to enjoy the night to renew my mindset!
