【怪談】幽霊の診察

次の患者は幽霊だった。
「先生、どうも具合が悪くて・・・・」

若いナースが床に倒れた。
どうやら気絶したらしい。

悲鳴をあげ、みんな逃げ出した。

だが、私は医者だ。
患者を見捨てて逃げるわけにはいかない。

それに、腰が抜けて立てないのだ。

おそるおそる幽霊の手首に触れてみた。
冷たかった。やはり脈はなかった。

はだけた胸に聴診器を当ててみた。
「息を吸って、止めて、はいて・・・・」

生臭いにおいがしただけだった。

「いつから具合が悪いのですか？」
「亡くなるちょっと前から・・・・」

どうやら自覚しているらしい。
死を宣告しても無駄なようだ。

「どんな具合に悪いのですか？」
「なんとも、死にきれないくらい・・・・」

ふざけているのだろうか。
「舌を見せてください」

腐乱していた。
見なければよかった。

どうにも手のほどこしようがない。
「お気の毒ですが、もう手遅れです」

「先生・・・・」
うらめしそうな顔をするのだった。

The next patient was a ghost.
