【SS】水葬

水槽の中、尾びれを振って泳いでいる。
エラ呼吸なんかして、ほとんど魚だ。

水槽の外では好奇な眼が光っている。

ゴクリと喉を鳴らす人々の気配を
ガラス越しに感じることさえできる。

人魚の泳ぐ姿が珍しいのだろう。
なにしろ伝説の生き物なのだから。

こちらもまだ慣れてないので

尾びれを横に振るべきか縦に振るべきか
迷ってしまって交互に振ったりする。

それにしても、情けない話だ。

死にぞこないの老人を殺しただけで
まさか人魚にされるとは思わなかった。

死刑か生体実験か、選択を迫られ　
つい生体実験を選んだ結果がこれだ。

手術のあと、麻酔から醒めた瞬間、

天国は水中にあったのか
と驚いてしまった。

「気分はどうかね」
ガラス越しに問いかけてくる。

返事くらいしてやろう。
「そんなに悪くない」

おお、という喚声。

こちらからの声も水槽の外に伝わるのだ。
水中マイクでも仕掛けてあるのだろう。

「なにかして欲しいことはあるかね」
いい質問だ。

おれは言ってやった。
「やっぱ、死刑にしてくれ」
　

Burial

In the aquarium, swimming the tail swim.
