【SS】乗り遅れ

「待ってくれーっ！」
叫びに叫び、走りに走ったが間に合わなかった。

バスの後姿はバス停から遠く離れ　
見えないくらい小さくなってしまった。

あれが始発バスだと聞いていたのに　
時刻表を見ると、最終バスでもあった。

なんと、この村には　
一日一本しかバスが通っていないのだ。

よんどころない事情があり　
今朝まで世話になった家に戻るわけにもいかない。

私は諦め、バスを追うように歩き始めた。
ともかく村を出る道は、この一本道しかないのだ。

喉が渇き、腹が減り、やがて足まで痛くなってきた。

湧き水も川もなく、弁当も水筒も持っておらず　
ときどき道端に腰を下ろして休憩するのが関の山だった。

そろそろ日暮れ近く　
歩いていた一本道が唐突に途切れてしまった。

道の先が崖で途切れていたのだ。

バスはどうしたのだと不審に思って崖を見下ろすと　
薄暗いがバスらしきものの影が崖下に見える。

突然の崖崩れかとも考えたが　
崖の淵からの急な斜面には草木が生い茂り、
たとえ崩れたとしても　
まず最近のこととはとても思えない。

すると、もともとあそこがバスの終点ということか。

他に考えられない。
他に進むべき道とてない。

私は決意すると、崖下のバスらしきものめがけ　
道の端から思い切って飛び降りた。

Missed Out

"Please wait!"
I ran screaming but I could not make it.

The rear of the bus is far from the bus stop

is this one way.

My throat was thirsty, my belly decreased,

There was neither spring water nor river,
neither a box lunch nor a water bottle,

and rest at the roadside.

It was nearly dusk soon,
the one road that I was walking broke up abruptly.

The end of the road was cut off at the cliff.

When I looked down on the cliff overlooking
what the bus was doing,
the shadow of something like a bus is seen under the cliff,
though it is dim.

Although I thought that it was a sudden cliff collapse,
the vegetation grows on the steep slope
from the edge of the cliff, even if it collapses,
first of all I do not think very much of recent things.

that is the end point of the bus.

I can not think of anything else.
There is no other way to go.

I resolutely jumped from the edge of the road
and jumped for what seemed to be a bus under the cliff.
