STEAM学習の場で生態系を考える

今日は鎌倉で子供向けのSTEAM学習を推進するRicoさんのLabへ
子供達の創造性を伸ばすためのLabを作成中でした。

教育というtop downではなく、Learningという自主的な学びを大切にしており、短時間でideaを形にするrapid prototypingが創造性を伸ばすのに役立つとのことでした。

僕なら興味のある生態系や生き物周辺の計測を行う機器(顕微鏡だったりセンサーだったり)を安価に作成することを目指せるようです。

生態系における生物多様性の重要さや、複雑系であることの認識の大切さを共有したところ、見解の一致やたくさんのフィードバックをもらいました。
例えば、
「その考え自体は新し考えではなく、田舎町だったり古くはみんな認識できていた事で、人が快適に暮らそうと都市下するときに分離されてしまった」
「科学的な解析のために、要素還元した結果、注目するそれぞれの部分に切り分けられて、全体的な考え方が見失われてきてしまっていた。」
分離されてしまった領域を統合的に見る必要があることの例として、牡蠣の生育に近隣の森林環境が影響を与えている事実を共有してくれました。

世界を分離してわかってきた事実を持ちながら、今度は統合的に理解するように螺旋階段を登っている感じだなと思いました。

Thinking about ecosystems in a STEAM learning Lab

Visited to Rico's Lab where he promotes STEAM learning for children in Kamakura

He is making a lab for children to develop their creativity.
He values Learning, not Education. He also believes that rapid prototyping can help children develop their creativity.

In my case, it seemed like a good idea to aim to create an inexpensive device (such as a microscope or a sensor) to measure the ecosystem and the surroundings of the creature I am interested in.

When I shared the importance of biodiversity in ecosystems and the importance of recognizing that they are complex systems, I got a lot of consensus and a lot of feedback.

For example
The idea itself isn't a new idea, it's just something that everyone in rural areas and the old days could recognize, and it got separated when people moved down to the cities to live comfortably.
As a result of dividing the world into areas of interest for scientific analysis, a holistic viewpoint has been lost.

I felt like I was climbing a spiral staircase to look at the world in an integrated way, with the facts we've learned from separating the world.
