戦争とはどんなものか君たちに伝えたい。ベトナム帰還兵の言葉
知らない世界を知ることは、自分の中の常識や感情が何か揺らぐ感じがするからやめられない。
一度調べだすとネットの記事や本を漁ってとことんまで調べてしまう。
だからこの先自分が絶対に踏み入らないであろう、犯罪心理やサイコパス、戦争などの知識を知ることに凄く刺激される。
最近は戦争体験について調べるうちに、戦争より悪は無いんじゃないかと心の底から思う。
それと同時に、生きているだけで幸せだなと思えるようにもなってきた。
今回戦争について伝えてくれるのは、ベトナムから帰還した兵士の言葉です。

友人の一人が吹き飛ばされるのを見た。 彼は対戦車地雷を踏んで死んだんだ。 足の半分はブーツの中にあったよ。
別の友人はジープで松の木に突っ込んだんだ。 彼には双子の娘がいたが、会うことはなかった。
もう一人の仲間は、今ローリーの病院にいる。 彼は、ダイナマイトをぶら下げてキャンプに入ってきた12歳の少女を殺したんだ。
彼女は自爆テロをする予定だった。 みんな殺されるところだったよ。
彼は唯一、彼女を撃つ勇気を持っていた。 そのせいで彼は頭が混乱して、今は精神病院にいるんだけどね。

I saw one of my friends get blown up. He stepped on an anti-tank mine and it killed him. Half of his leg was in his boot.
友人の一人が吹き飛ばされるのを見た。 彼は対戦車地雷を踏んで死んだんだ。 足の半分はブーツの中にあったよ。
Another friend drove a Jeep into a pine tree. He had twin daughters he never saw.
別の友人はジープで松の木に突っ込んだんだ。 彼には双子の娘がいたが、会うことはなかった。
Then another one of his buddies is in a hospital in Raleigh. He killed a 12-year-old girl who came into camp strapped with dynamite.
もう一人の仲間は、今ローリーの病院にいる。 彼は、ダイナマイトをぶら下げてキャンプに入ってきた12歳の少女を殺したんだ。
She was a suicide bomber. We all would have been killed.
彼女は自爆テロをする予定だった。 みんな殺されるところだったよ。
He was the only one with a heart to shoot her. It messed him up in the head and he’s in a mental hospital.
