Looking for a valuable resource

Oftentimes, when I want to know something, I think of few words that matches I want to look for and ask Google. And then tons of results appear on the screen. That is great, what a time to be alive! But, what I found out recently is that, maybe video is a better way to collect better information. What I mean by that is when you ask google something, you already know words that you are searching. It means you can't search something you don't know yet. On the other hand, when you watch YouTube, espesially like conference or something really technical, you can get much wider information than you'd first expected to. One example is that, the other day I watched a video someone speaking about how to run a successfull startup, and the speaker explained how to set appropriate KPI for the company using mixpanel. He said that Google Analytics isn't enough to track user's activity espesially if you want to know how user interacts in the website. You need mixpanel or some other kinds of metrics to measure growth. When I first clicked that video, I didn't expect that. I didn't know what mixpanel is. So I googled it and found it. Turns out it was a great product. I immediately signed up and started to use it.

That is just a one exapmle but I feel like the same kinds of things are happening lately. The good thing about video format is you can get background information about it, like back story of it. When you read articles to look for some information, that is totally fine. But sometimes authors don't include a tiny little detail of it even though sometimes it is the most improtant thing that they should tell you (I don't know whether they're doing it deliberately or not). On the other hand, in the video format, I mean a real conversation, people just speak everything including the shitty details. Most of the time this shit is the most valuable thing. It's funny that a lot of articles are missing it. I think this is called なんていうか忘れた.

And another thing is that, YouTube has its own superb recommendation engine. So you don't have to type keywords that you are looking for. They are serving it for you. Of course you can search it by yourself. But they serve it for you. I think the key here is that how to utilize the recommendation algorithm. How do we get along with it? I have multiple YouTube accounts to do that. One for Japanese contents and one for English contents and like that. Controllng your choise of videos to let the engine know what kind of contents I want to be served. That how I use this algorithm. When I want to learn Korean language, I first off switch my YouTube account and start to watch Korean videos. Then gradually the engine starts to know what contents should the user (me) watch.
