　バイデン氏が一般教書演説で「中国との競争に勝つ目的のもとに我々は結束すべきだ」と述べたのは本気であるということだ。中国への脅威の認識を米側と共有できるにしても、対中依存の高い我が国の半導体業界に多大な影響があるのは否めない。安全保障政策とビジネスの共生は実に悩ましい問題である。

　　言うまでもなく、資本主義であろうが社会主義であろうが熾烈な競争に勝ち残ったもの（会社）のみが生き残る。それは、受験でも同じこと。誰でも分かっている共通認識だと思う。

　そういう観点で現在の日本の学校を見ると絶望的な気持ちになることが多い。日本固有の「同調圧力」のために、落ちこぼれを救うという美名のもとに、授業レベルがクラスの最低水準に落とされている。

　浮きこぼれた優秀な生徒の声は教師にも、校長にも、教育委員会にも、文科省にも届かない。黙って低レベルの授業を聞いているのが、どれほど苦痛なのか元イマイチだった先生には理解できないんだろう。

　国際競争で勝つためには「学校の教師は一流の人材でなければならない」のに、今や教師になりたい若者はほとんどいない。教員採用試験に人が集まらないため、合格者の質は落ちる一方だ。

　Needless to say, only those (companies) that survive the fierce competition, whether capitalist or socialist, will survive. It is the same in examinations. I think it is a common understanding that everyone understands.

　When I look at the current Japanese schools from this perspective, I often feel hopeless. Due to the "peer pressure" inherent in Japan, the level of teaching has been reduced to the lowest level of the class under the beautiful name of saving the dropouts.

　The voices of the bright students who float through the ranks do not reach the teachers, the principals, the school boards, or the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. The teachers who were not good enough in the past do not understand how painful it is to listen to low-level classes in silence.

　In order to win in international competition, "school teachers must be top-notch personnel," but now there are hardly any young people who want to become teachers. The quality of successful candidates is declining because people are not attracted to the teacher recruitment examinations.
