〇「宗教の自由」とは「無宗教」のことなの？

　私はクリスチャンだけれど、授業では宗教のことは語らないようにしている。生徒の家庭によっては、神道や仏教に熱心な保護者の方がみえるかもしれない。日本の公立学校は全て、信仰の自由という憲法の精神を保証するため特定の宗教教育は行わない。

　日本では、宗教とは非科学的な迷信のようなものと考える人が多い。
「この世に、天国や地獄があるわけないじゃん！」
　という方が“当たり前”で“当然”という風潮が蔓延している。

　でも、本当にそうなのか？

　私のアメリカ人の友人が言っていた。
「仏教でもイスラム教でも何でもいいけど、神様を信じていない人は何をするか分からない感じがして怖い！」

　I am a Christian, but I try not to talk about religion in class. Some families of students may have parents who are devoted to Shintoism or Buddhism. All public schools in Japan do not teach any specific religion in order to ensure the spirit of the Constitution, which is freedom of religion.

　But is this really true?

　An American friend of mine once told me, "I don't care if it's Buddhism or Islam.
I don't care if it's Buddhism, Islam, or any other religion, people who don't believe in God are afraid of what they might do!
