タイトル:ペンギンから学べること

Make no mistake, they are odd birds. Super cool to watch waddle around, and their chicks sit in that upper echelon of cuteness. But Penguins are also incredibly talented sleepers. I’m not talking about the sloth-like, 14 hours+ episodes our teenagers pull off on the weekend – which is both amazing and infuriating (because I can’t) – we are talking about taking over 10,000 “micro-naps” that last about four seconds each and accumulate into over 11 hours in a single day. That is totally insane if you think about it. Penguins would have taken four naps during that paragraph.

I’m not suggesting we all start to take micro-naps throughout the day, but it’s well documented that taking breaks throughout the day can dramatically improve our mental health and wellbeing. Furthermore taking a few mini-breaks (sort of like micro-naps) to move throughout the workday is a really important and healthy routine to incorporate.

All I’m saying is – let’s be more like Penguins. Give yourself a break. Even a micro-break - or micro-nap if you can swing it. 😊
