Song for the Unknown Artist

Brrrr. It's a chilly day here on the East Coast in the US. And though my mind is swirling with many things (nothing unusual for me), I am very focused and clear.

Art is nearly always on my mind. Since I was a kid growing up in LA I have created, sought out, curated, mused over, uncovered, discovered, challenged & educated myself, and quietly drawn Art. This only increases as I become older In fact, as I enter the second half of my life, I am convinced that our body's natural gifts for contemplation kick into high gear and blossom, as we reflect on our lives, our relationships, our traumas and hopefully our important healing.

Like drawing, thinking deeply about our life is as natural as the Sun. We are designed to explore, root out and contain profound meaning. With little to no effort, one can step out into the fresh air, gaze at the blue of the sky , feel a warm sun ray on your cheek, hear the rustle of the wind on some crispy dry leaves, smell the piney green of the trees around you, the trees that are witness to your growth in the moment, then follow a uniquely melodic song Of a bird somewhere just outside your view. Or in flight. And you're flying right along with it. Drawing a bright line from that song to various places and moods and experiences within you. That's a song too. Your song. That song provides an instant ephemeral soundtrack that swings hard and long into you past, present and even your future. Then it ends. And you're off to another adventure. Whatever that is.

And let's be clear, whatever that is, it is your life. In the moment. In one beautiful raw instantaneous unmediated moment. Filled with experience, Nature, Art, wishes fulfilled or lost, dreams morphed and a certain delicate Beingness. You are here . And that is your song.

It's pretty cosmic. Radical even. Going way beyond any multi-media installation, VR, AR, crypto anything. Your life experience with all points leading, well, somewhere. From the Universe to your heart soul mind body to Art & Creativity to Nature then, well, there you are.

And here I am. Plunking down those mysterious pixels, crafting them into elegant typography, entering the clean white note space, doing what I've always done: communicating honestly. This is what artists do. They make a life of it. Some make a business of it. Some are even "successful" with that business. But really, it is the song we sing as individuals that is the true art of Humanity.

That song is sung everyday by everybody. From birth to death. Some of those songs are heard and recorded, sold and even cherished or remembered. But those are just some of the songs. And though they may be important to many or some, they are still just songs, Life Songs, as part of the cosmic angular yet infinitely elegant harmonic tune that this living planet is singing out to, well your guess is as good as mine. Maybe even better.

And if I'm singing anything today, if I'm hitting any note, or striking any chord, I'm probably improvising a tune that rings something like this:

Your song is heard. Your song is important. Your song has intrinsic Value. And Meaning.

It is the lovely song of this World.

And I'm listening to it now.

Are you listening too?

Note: My song for today sings something like this: Not a day goes by when I don't reflect on some of the high notes I've hit as I've developed as an artist and free-thinking individual. Some notes are chic and exotic, like bopping around the New Wave Punky Multiculti Post Modern Art scene in 80s LA. Some of those notes are adventurous and colorful, such as curating and launching some way out experimental public art in San Francisco or New York. Some are very quiet. and subtle and maybe a little melancholy, like building a makeshift fort out of kitchen chairs and blankets to privately gaze at all my weird and ever so important wacky pack stickers, comic books & cheap 25 cent rubber monster toys that I collected as a kid ( my first curatorial projects). Do you have any personal songs that contributed to your development as a unique human being? I'd love to hear you sing them.

Very truly yours, Supernormaled
