Situation in Ukraine
It has been 846 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
Russian losses were 1,230 soldiers
16 tanks
20 armored fighting vehicles
32 guns
20 drones
1 cruise missile
47 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 104 ground battles in one day.
There were more losses of soldiers and less losses of equipment,
probably due to bad weather.
And the ratio of the number of equipment losses on the Ukrainian side,
which can be visually confirmed,
to the number of losses on the Russian side is 1 to 1.5.
Losses on the Russian side are dominated by reconnaissance equipment and infantry fighting vehicles; conversely,
civilian vehicles,
reconnaissance equipment,
and artillery are prominent on the Ukrainian side.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
We will focus on the areas where the war situation has changed.
You can follow the changes with the date if you use the full screen view on the big screen.
Northeast,
toward Harkiv
This section reports on the situation in the Halkiu area,
where Russian troops crossed the border on May 10 and launched a military invasion.
The weather in Harkiv was thunderstorms.
Minimum temperature 17 degrees Celsius,
maximum temperature 24 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is cloudy.
In this area,
the Russians have made five attacks on Vovtyansk,
three of which were repulsed by the Ukrainian army,
and two of which are still ongoing on the ground.
Liptsy sector
In this sector,
Ukrainian forces counterattacked,
resulting in heavy ground fighting.
In Hlyboke,
according to video footage with location information,
Ukrainian forces counterattacked,
destroying a Russian pickup north of Hlyboke and advancing ground troops to Naberetna Street on the outskirts of Hlyboke.
However,
a Ukrainian BTR armored fighting vehicle was damaged by a Russian lancet suicide drone at the location shown on the map.
The Ukrainian soldiers abandoned the vehicle and holed up in the house shown on the map on the street and engaged the Russians in combat.
What you are seeing is the Russian side,
with Ukrainian soldiers holed up in the building shown on the map and Russian soldiers outside.
The Russian side reportedly repulsed the Ukrainian counterattack.
The battle map has been updated to show a reduced Russian occupation of residential areas south of town and up to this location as disputed territory,
and the battle map has been updated to show that the southwestern residential areas and the southern suburb of Hlyboke,
where the Russian presence is no longer confirmed,
have been retaken by Ukrainian forces.
Vovtyansk area
Russian troops are reportedly struggling in this sector.
According to Ukrainian military spokesman Povhov,
the Russian military has redeployed the 155th Marine Brigade and 18th Motorized Rifle Division drawn from the Donetsk area to this area to replace units that have lost combat capability.
Incidentally,
as previously reported,
the Russian Army's 155th Marine Brigade was destroyed at Vuhledar and was a defeated unit that suffered heavy losses at Heoryivka.
The Guardian also reported a local Russian soldier as saying that the 5th Company of the 1009th Regiment of the Russian Army,
deployed in Vovtyansk,
was constantly exposed to Ukrainian artillery and drone fire,
and as a result,
the first assault was ordered in broad daylight,
resulting in the unit's numbers being cut in half,
with only 12 survivors from the second assault. Only 12 men survived the second assault.
1st.
At the Vovtyansk aggregate plant,
where 400 people are surrounded,
the Russians fired four glide bombs on the west side of the plant,
six on the north side,
and four on the east side,
followed by a ground assault from the west,
which was repulsed by the Ukrainian army.
Repeated rescue attempts by the Russians failed,
and unconfirmed reports indicate that a group of 150 to 200 Russian soldiers surrendered in sequence after the attack.
2nd.
On the eastern edge of the city of Vovtyansk,
the Russians attempted to penetrate the city in small groups from the north,
slipping past Ukrainian positions and crossing the Bovtyansk River,
but without reinforcements,
the Russian soldiers surrendered at the Bovtyansk River.
Northeast: Toward Luhansk Oblast
Eastern part,
in the direction of ChasivYar
The following is a report on the war situation in the area from Kupyansk to ChasivYar.
In this area,
the Russians attacked 4 times in Kupyansk,
10 times along the Svatovo-Kremina line,
9 times around Sibersk,
and 3 times around ChasivYar.
Svatove-Kreminna line
1st.
In this area,
there are reports that Russian troops are continuing the ground fighting from yesterday by firing thermobaric bombs at Nevske,
but Ukrainian troops are defending their positions and there is no change in the battle map.
Second.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that Russian forces launched an attack near the military cemetery in the Serebryansky forest in late May/June,
and once recaptured the area,
Ukrainian forces then counterattacked and recaptured it.
The battle map has been updated to reflect the recent Ukrainian military offensive in this area,
which has resulted in the recapture of the disputed territory by Ukrainian forces.
Around Sibersk
In this direction,
Russian forces launched attacks in various directions,
among them advancing through the Ukrainian defensive line at Rozdrivka.
According to the positional video,
the Ukrainian forces were found to be attacking the southwestern edge of the settlement shown on the map.
What you are seeing is a battle report from the Ukrainian side,
showing the location shown on the map.
The battle map was updated on March 19 to show that the Ukrainian army had established a line of defense in this area,
which had long held off the Russian attack,
and that the Russians had taken the area just in front of the line.
Towards ChasivYar
1st.
In Kalinivka,
Russian troops made a slight advance into the settlement.
First,
according to the video with location information,
a Russian drone attacked a poultry farm north of the town,
which deterred Ukrainian troops from moving in,
and then Russian troops stormed into the city center.
What you are seeing is the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Army at the location shown on the map,
and the Russian soldiers in action at the location shown on the map.
The battle map has been updated to show the Russian advance in a narrow area in this vicinity.
2nd.
At Canal,
the battle map remains unchanged,
with the two sides standing in a standoff across a street in the center of the city center.
3rd.
In Klishchiivka,
the Russians deployed their turtle tanks for an assault,
passing through the settlement and advancing to the forested area shown on the map,
where they were surrounded by Ukrainian troops and the crews surrendered.
The image shown is of the Ukrainian Army's 22nd Mechanized Brigade,
where a Ukrainian drone attack rendered a Russian turtle tank immobile at the location shown on the map,
after which the Ukrainian troops surrounded it and captured it as trophy,
bringing it back with the Ukrainian flag attached.
This is the first time that a turtle tank has been captured.
There is no change in the battle map.
Southeast Donetsk Oblast.
The following is an update on the war situation in the areas of Avdiivka,
Marinka,
and Velikanovosilka.
Avdiivka
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
24 attacks were repulsed.
Russian vehicle attacks have been observed south of Sokir and north of Umanske,
but they are in disputed territory,
so the battle map remains unchanged for the moment.
Marinka sector
There were four Russian attacks in this sector,
all of which were repulsed by Ukrainian forces,
and there is no information on any change in the battle map.
Velikanovoshirka Area
In this area,
Russian forces conducted a total of 11 attacks on Urozhane and Stalomaiorsk,
and Russian MoD Minister Beloussov announced the capture of Stalomaiorsk.
However,
location-based video footage shows that the Russians are engaged in ground fighting in the area shown on the map,
and that this area is the front line,
and judging from the video footage,
Ukrainian forces are continuing to resist northwest of the town,
so the Russian occupation of that area has been reduced to a disputed territory. The battle map has been updated.
Rear Areas
The Ukrainian Armed Forces Strategic Command reported that previous attacks have destroyed 15 air defense installations on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula,
dozens of missile launchers,
more than 15 radar bases,
and more than 10 command posts.
Southern Zaporizhia Province
Southern province of Kherson
The Russians launched a total of seven attacks in this sector,
but all were unsuccessful,
and there was no information that could affect the battle map.

1st.
President Vladimir Putin will visit North Korea today to sign a strategic partnership agreement.
According to Russian presidential aide Ushakov,
the agreement will replace previous basic agreements and will create "further cooperation,
including in the field of military technology."
Meanwhile,
Kyodo News reported that Jang Ho-jin,
head of the National Security Office of the South Korean presidential administration,
warned Russia not to "cross the line" in its military cooperation with North Korea.
Several South Korean media outlets have said that the agreement is close to a military alliance between Russia and North Korea,
which could lead to mutual military intervention in the event of an emergency.
President Putin will then visit Vietnam on January 19 and is likely to reach some kind of agreement with Vietnam on arms and energy trade and ruble currency settlement.
Incidentally,
Vietnam has not ratified the International Criminal Court treaty,
so Putin's suspects will not be arrested.
2nd.
A photo of the Russian submarine "Kazan" entering the Cuban capital of Havana reveals that parts have fallen off the hull and have not been repaired.
In the photos,
acoustic tiles are peeling off,
clearly indicating that the submarine has not been repaired for a long period of time.
Acoustic tiles are an important component made of a material that absorbs sound so that the submarine is undetected by the enemy.
Russia decided to send a submarine to Cuba in order to impress the West with the image of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the danger of nuclear war,
but it also impressed the world with the lack of maintenance of the submarine,
resulting in a worldwide outcry of dismay.
3rd.
Excluded from all international sports competitions,
Russia held the BRICS International Athletic Meet as a countermeasure.
However,
the competition was disastrous,
as there were few participating countries and many events were attended only by Russian athletes.
According to the article,
there was only one entry in synchronized swimming,
and the only participant,
Alexander Maltsev of Russia,
won the second gold medal with 211.6542 points.
The TASS news agency also reported extensively on the Russian athlete's success,
and the Russian authorities reportedly allocated a large amount of reward money for the gold medal in this event.
So even if the gold medal was awarded only because there were no other participants,
it was a great achievement for the Russian athletes who took part in the competition,
and they must be very proud.
That's all for today.
