DEFINITION/THE PROFESSIONAL FC
INTRODUCTION
The Football Community (FC) trying to unravel "What is Professional?" in football world from words of various people.
That is THE PROFESSIONAL FC.
Last time was an introduction to present about our-self. If you haven't read, please have a look through once.
What did you guys think about the definition of "Professional" from dictionaries?
The more written words were Occupation, Profession, Livelihood/Business and Expert.
Let's have look further.
In the blog written four years ago, former sprinter Mr Dai Tamesue said "there is actually no gap between professioals and amateurs" in sports competition mainly involves with Olympic.
That's because quiet many university students are receiving money from their contracts or the prize in Japan.
Also there is still a culture of company's sports in Japan.
This is the reason why the word "Professionalization" was born, which reflects the change in the status of mainly individual sports athletes.
Meaning to say it is the change from working for both as an office worker and an athlete to being only an athlete like a freelancer.
It didn't define professional in this blog. However it suggests that first is whether they earn and second is whether being independent in the sports. (i.e. is he or she working on the sports exclusively?)
Then, how do they define professional in football?
The document of Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players made by FIFA defines professional player on 9th page.
A professional is a player who has a written contract with a club and is paid
more for his footballing activity than the expenses he effectively incurs. All
other players are considered to be amateurs.
Basically UEFA and JFA use the same definition. The key words here are also earning and independence in life.
Additionally it has been announced last November that the Women's professional league will be launched in Japan in 2021.
If we are to use the definition above, the players in this league will earn enough money to live and be able to focus on the football activity.
However, the requirement for Japanese League Division 3 is to have at least three professionally contracted players. Even though it is professional league, we might not call all of them as professionals.
Therefore we still have to follow how the Women's professional league will be structured.
The examples so far, we are getting to understand roughly the difference between the professional and amateur in terms of social status.
In reality, only few people can reach such status.
It's purely because the numbers of the clubs and the people that can be available are limited.
To be there, many factors such as the talent, those efforts all the way, having the results and recordds or the timing are needed.
There are several questions made.
・How can we be professional?
・Is it actual that only top division leagues are called professional in football?
・Is there any definition than stating earnings?
For example, the person who doesn't yet have professional skills, doesn't earn enough money to live, has another activities outside but wants to pursue his or her career, what should he or she do??
People say, work had, bear and wait until you get the final results. Is it right?
It shouldn't be the way.
Whatever you do at the beginning, everyone is the same like just born-baby. You make a lot of mistakes and have many things you don't know.
Then what differentiate into professional and amateur from there?
We think the key is "the attitude".
Here, we defined "Professional" as THE PROFESSIONAL FC believes.
The important thing is those three points are formed or not.
If it's more concrete, it is more clear for you to know how to use your talent, how to put more effort and how to get best results or record.
Repeat again, it is not down to right or wrong.
Only we created the benchmark for us to unravel those professional that we are going to introduce in coming days.
If you have ideas or somethings to steal for your own sake, please use it.
If you think something is not right, or you have advice like "something can be done better", please do let us know.
Let's share a lot of words, chew them, digest them and make your own philosophy.
