The LDP Secretary-General said that since the cheating was exposed, if someone who was not endorsed by the party won, it would mean that the people had given him their trust.
Of the 46 lawmakers who were found to have not filed income and expenditure reports, 18 were elected and 28 were defeated.
In addition, three of the ten candidates not endorsed by the Liberal Democratic Party were elected.
Ahead of the election, the LDP's secretary-general said that if unendorsed candidates were elected, they might be able to take office because "the people have given them their trust."
To be precise, only the voters in their constituencies, that is, only a portion of the public, gave them their trust. Many citizens, including myself, had no involvement in their re-election at all.
Another problem is that the number of votes required to win varies greatly from district to district. Looking at the results, the candidate with the fewest votes in this House of Representatives election was Toyama 1st District with 45,917 votes. Meanwhile, in Hokkaido 5th District, for example, a candidate who received 100,893 votes lost, while a candidate who received 125,444 votes won.
Although the situation differs by region, the difference in the value of a vote is too large.
It is only natural that a lawsuit would be filed.
Besides arbitrary interpretations of votes and disparities in the number of votes, physical problems have also arisen.
In Toyonaka city, there was a mistake in which 525 absentee ballots were not placed in the ballot box before the voting deadline, and these were invalidated.
I want to say to the Election Commission, get your act together.
The management method should be improved by labeling the boxes for absentee ballots with consecutive numbers and checking them against a ledger.
Meanwhile, in the United States, an even more horrific incident occurred: ballot boxes were set on fire.
They say they will place snipers to protect the ballot boxes.
What's going on, America?
