◎周期ゼミの不思議について同僚と話す主人公。

◎周期ゼミがどうやってその周期がきたことを知るのかはよくわかっていない。遺伝子に組み込まれているともいわれているが、地球温暖化のせいか、より短い周期のゼミの集団も出現しているという。同時に大量に発生することは生き残りには有利とみられる。地球温暖化や気候変動の影響は、まだ詳しく研究されているわけではない。
◎主人公は、以前、カンボジアで昆虫を食べた話をしていたが、セミも食べたらしい。昆虫食はこれからの人間のタンパク源として注目されているが、そのまま食べることを意味しているわけではないのだよ。。。
