80.Coco Chanel（ココ・シャネル）19-20世紀、フランスのファッションデザイナー。ココ・シャネルは児童養護施設で育ち、やがて裁縫職人となるがキャバレー歌手を目指して辞める。歌手にはなれなかったが、何人もの実業家の愛人となり、彼らの資金により、パリで帽子店を始める。ガンボン通りでの彼女の店の場所には、今、「ハウス・オブ・シャネル」が残されている。ココは、男性用と女性用を組み合わせた新しいファッションを生み出した。彼女はフェミニストではなかったが、彼女の作る服は、以前よりルーズで動い易く、女性たちを過去のファッションスタイルから解放した。彼女のデザインが有名になったのは、アール・デコ調の瓶にはいた香水「シャネルNo.5」だった。その後、リトル・ブラック・ドレス、シャネル・スーツが評判となる。第2次大戦中、彼女はナチス幹部の愛人だったため、戦後は、スイスに亡命する。しかし、1952年、業界に復帰し、1971年になくなるまでホテル・リッツで優雅な暮らしをした。

◎ココ・シャネル。ファッションに興味なくても名前は知っている。まさに波乱の人生。朝ドラと大河ドラマ両方で描いてほしいような人だと思う。デザイナーとしては、スランプの時期もあったし、戦後は厳しい状況に追い込まれもした。しかし、ファッション・センスとともにマーケティング力にも長けていたのだと思う。
