TOPIC: Agree or disagree: Global overpopulation is a serious threat to the future of humankind

People are generally concerned about food shortages, global warming, and wars stemming from global overpopulation and feel it is impossible to solve problems without reducing the human population. However, I believe we can address the issues through inventing new technologies or creating new policies and introducing them to each country.

News often reports that people in some poor countries suffer from hunger because of severe weather or overpopulation. They even do not have enough water to survive, resulting in drinking polluted water. People in those areas easily contract with viruses because of the contaminated water, and some people die. The only way to solve this issue is to invent new technologies that, for instance, can purify dirty water or seawater to clean drinkable water. Furthermore, developed countries should introduce sophisticated agriculture and aquaculture to the countries that do not have these technologies so that they can produce food well by themselves.

Global warming is also a serious issue that we are required to solve as soon as possible. This problem happens because people around the world use cars and factories emit carbon dioxide. Some corporations, which believe their priority is to contribute to society, have already started creating new technologies that can solve global warming. Automakers have begun to produce hydrogen-powered vehicles that do not emit CO2 but instead discharge water. Some governments also make policies to stop global warming. Most of them agree on the Paris Climate Agreement, aiming at decreasing the amount of CO2.

Finally, we can stop wars thanks to technology. In the past, we used to need more land because the number of people increased, which was a cause of wars. However, the advent of the Internet provides us with the opportunities to do business online. The Internet has unlimited sites, because of which we no longer have to worry about business places.

Due to the facts above, global overpopulation is not a threat anymore to the future of humankind. We will have more comfortable lives in the future by creating new technologies and ideas.
