子供の頃まで遡りますが、10歳の頃はじめて円形脱毛症を発症しました。
いわゆる10円ハゲというやつで、この病気は癖になりやすい性質があり、それから30年付き合って生きています。
この頃から私は、ヘアアレンジをして10円ハゲを隠すという行為をはじめます。
それと同時に中学生くらいの頃にはどんどん進行して、10円どころではなく襟足部分の髪の毛は蛇行型に進化を遂げ、広範囲に広がりプールなどの授業は何かと理由をつけてほぼ欠席することになりました。
何故自分だけ…と思う気持ちから、別の人になりたいという思いも強くなり、映画やファッションなどの輝かしい別世界に憧れを抱きはじめます。
そんな時に出会ったのが、アメリカのヘアメイクアップアーティスト“ケヴィン・ウォークイン”の写真集。ビフォーアフターの違いが凄すぎて度肝を抜かれました。当時はフィルムカメラの時代なので、リタッチなんてあり得ず、テープで目を釣り上げたり、ウイッグを使用したり、ファンデーションなんてきっと1センチは厚みがありそうな様子でした。
それでも全くの別人になれるんだって！
その変化に“ワクワク”しました。
この時がヘアメイクを志す最初のきっかけであり、ヘアメイクの持つ力を知った日でした。
当時はテレビで“ファッション通信”という番組をやっていて、コレクションのランウェイをよくテレビで見ていました。
この時代はファッションが盛り上がっていた時代で、奇抜なファッションに身を纏い、前衛的なヘアメイクをしたモデル達が自信満々に活歩してるのを見て現実離れした世界観に”ワクワク“してかっこいいなぁと憧れていました。
有名なモデルさんになると、色んなブランドにひっぱりだこなわけで“あれ？同じ人？”なんて驚く事がありました。
目に映るのは本当に一瞬、短いランウェイを歩くその姿のなかでも、髪の毛はそのシルエットでファッションの一部となっている様に見えました。
そしてモデル達がランウェイのセンターに来て後ろにターンする時、早歩きのウォーキングと残り香を残すような振り返り方が髪の毛が生きてる様に感じられたのです。
この華やかな一種のファンタジーの世界の中で、色んな人格を作る。
中学生の私は変化とこの“ワクワク”する希望と好奇心を求めていました。
これがファッション業界でヘアメイクアップアーティストとしてお仕事したい！と思ったきっかけでした。

Going back to my childhood, when I was 10 years old, I first developed alopecia areata.
It was what they call a one coin bald spot, and this disease is addictive, so I've been living with it for the past 30 years.
It was around this time that I started arranging my hair to hide the one coin bald spot.
At the same time, when I was in junior high school, it progressed rapidly, and the hair at the nape of my neck evolved into a meandering shape, spreading over a wide area, and I almost always missed classes like swimming, making excuses for one thing or another.
The feeling of wondering why it was only me... made me want to be someone else, and I began to admire the glittering world of movies and fashion.
It was at that time that I came across a photo book by American hair and makeup artist "Kevyn Aucoin“. The difference between the before and after was so amazing that I was blown away. Back then, it was the era of film cameras, so retouching was unheard of. People would use tape to make their eyes look bigger, or they would wear wigs, and their foundation would probably be at least a very thick.
But even so, they could become a completely different person!
I was excited by the transformation.
This was the first time I decided to become a hair and makeup artist, and the day I learned about the power of hair and makeup.
At the time, there was a program on TV called "Fashion News," and I often watched the runway collections on TV.
This was a time when fashion was booming, and I was excited by the unrealistic worldview of models dressed in eccentric fashions and with avant-garde hair and makeup, walking confidently, and I admired them for how cool they were.
When they became famous models, they were in high demand from various brands, so I was sometimes surprised and thought, "Huh? Is that the same person?"
It only lasted for a moment, and even as they walked down the short runway, their hair looked like it was part of the fashion with its silhouette.
And when the models came to the center of the runway and turned back, their fast walking and the way they turned around as if leaving a lingering scent behind made their hair feel alive.
In this glamorous, sort of fantasy world, you create different personalities.
As a middle schooler, I was looking for change and this exciting feeling of hope and curiosity.
This was what made me think that I wanted to work in the fashion industry as a hair and makeup artist!
