タイトル「政治の話はしやすくならないのか?」

Yes, this suggestion cannot be acceptable.
Some reasons make this opinion supportable.

選挙の際に投票に行く有権者は日本ではそんなに多くない。いやむしろ投票率はそんなに高くない。既存の政権与党が下野しない理由はそこら辺にある。
The number of voters who employ their right to vote at the election isn’t large in our society, or rather such a number is small compared with the counterpart of the neighbor nations, which might be the reason that the existing government party could keep their power.

若者の政治的無関心について政府は何らかの策を講じようとしたのかどうか分からないが、数年前に選挙権を持つ年齢が2歳下がって18歳になった。
Almost all young people in our society seem to have a sense of political apathy, which our government might have had an intention to address a few years ago.
Japan lowered the voting age to 18 from 20, which means that some of the senior students of high school could become a voter in the general election.

だからと言って状況は変わらないのだが、その理由は日本人が選挙の話題を人前では避ける傾向にあることだろう。調和を尊重することが義務付けられているのだ。
This hasn’t made positive contributions to the current political situation, the reason of which is that most Japanese people have a tendency to avoid discussing the political subjects in public.
We have had the duty to cherish the harmony among people since the era of Prince Umayado.

若者は刺激的な何かを常に追い求める。それは政治的なものではない。スポーツや映画や芸能人に夢中になることはある。しかし政治に夢中になるなんてことはない。
Young people always have an instinct to pursue something stimulating, to our regret, which isn’t something political at all.
They are likely to become absorbed in sports, screens or celebrities’ affairs, but it is impossible for them to have interest in the political situation in Japan.

失われた30年の中で生きてきた若者は不景気が普通だと思っている。いやそもそも不景気にも関心はない。マスコミも教育も若者に政治や経済に疑問を持たせることはない。
Today’s young people in Japan have lived during the “lost 30 years” and they cannot consider the current recession as something special, or rather they aren’t interested in this depression in the first place.
Mass media or educational institutions fail to make them aware of something political or economic.

This reason makes the question titled above unfavorable.
