The Fruit from the Tree of Knowledge in the 21st Century

In the early hours of September 10, 2024, Apple Inc. unveiled the i-Phone 16, featuring the groundbreaking generative AI known as "Apple Intelligence." These smartphones and mobile devices, which might be likened to the "fruit from the tree of knowledge in the 21st century" in our era, have become indispensable in modern life, driving an accelerated transformation of societal infrastructure to accommodate them.

The dawn of the information revolution is traced back to the 1980s.

Imagining a world before the ubiquity of personal computers and the internet now seems almost impossible.

Humanity has continually forged new technologies in pursuit of a convenient and secure existence. Generative AI stands at the forefront of these advancements.

Reflecting on human history, innovations such as agriculture, animal husbandry, and the industrial revolution were once revolutionary technologies that promised a better life. It is easy to envision the skepticism of contemporaries who first encountered these ideas, likely dismissing them with a scoff. Yet today, these innovations form the bedrock of our civilization.

The information revolution follows a similar narrative.
In its nascent stages, few could have envisioned the modern society we inhabit today, and those who did were often derided as dreamers.

Parallel paths can be seen in fields like life sciences, where DNA manipulation and nuclear development have progressed. All technological advancements are tools, crafted to turn the impossible into reality, driven by the dream of a convenient and safe life.

However, as we strive to master these technologies, we must ask ourselves: are we truly achieving a "convenient and safe life"? History has repeatedly shown that the misuse of our creations can lead to large-scale destruction and slaughter.

Once a new technology is born, it cannot be undone or erased. We can only strive to reach greater heights by building upon it.

Technology, in itself, is neutral; it harbors no inherent morality or malice. The creation and potential misuse of technology are an eternal paradox, forever intertwined. If this angel and demon could converse, their dialogue would likely revolve around ideology and conscience.
