Fitbit
It has been working for me for quite some time. Now its battery is dead. It won't charge. This is my 4th Fitbit HR alt. The first one I bought was back in 2014 or 2015. Five to six years and I went through four of them; not really a good record. It means 1.4 Fitbits a year, although I wore them almost 24/7 except for charging: jogging, showering, sleeping etc. I didn't take them off.
At first, I was not sure about these smart watches or tracker watches but now it's a necessity. It motivates me to to go for a walk or run. The reason I wasn't sure about it was the very nature of tracking. I wear it everyday so basically the watch knows where I have been and all my movements, 24/7. Also, I didn't want emails and calendar events to chase me no matter where I am. Fitbit HR alt fit the bill perfectly because it had no built-in GPS or Apps on the watch itself. It can send call, text and calendar notifications. But that's it. You cannot check any of them; for that you have to do that on your phone. Perfect!
Now it's dead. After it went out of production I purchased the second hand. It seems that market is also dying down. Also it maybe time for me to look for an alternative. The simple thing is to get the next generation of the same model(Fitbit inspire series), which, by the way, I didn't like particularly its aesthetic, and now that series seems replaced by its successor(Fitbit luxe), which looks nice and not too expensive.
Another part of me is thinking it may be time for me to get over that uneasy feeling about the tracking device. It certainly is handy to have electric payment systems on your watch, you will barely need a wallet. I'm not sure about the Apps. I won't read emails on the tiny screen for sure.
I wonder how people use these wearable devices. I cannot think of any scenario other than tracking exercises and maybe payment.
How and for what do you use them, if you have one of those things?
