この度、AaP/roidworksgalleryでは斎藤亮輔個展『PRISM』を開催いたします。
本展では、現代人の「光」に対する意識をテーマとし、偏光色を用いて制作された斎藤亮輔による新作群をご紹介いたします。
斎藤の作品において「青」は、現実とデジタルの世界を連続的に表現する上で、重要な役割を果たしてきました。今回の展示では、この「青」が、現代社会における「光」と「情報」を関係的に捉え、情報の不確かさや多様性を表現する要素として新たな進化を遂げています。
見る角度によって変化する色彩の中で浮かび上がる人物像は、情報の多様性とそれぞれの視点の違いを視覚的に表現しています。

At AaP/roidworksgallery, we are delighted to present Ryosuke Saito’s solo exhibition, “PRISM.” This exhibition delves into contemporary perceptions of “light,” showcasing a new collection of works by Ryosuke Saito, crafted using polarized colors. In Saito’s art, the color “blue” has consistently played a crucial role in seamlessly connecting the realms of reality and the digital world. In this exhibition, “blue” further evolves, symbolizing the relationship between “light” and “information” in modern society, capturing the ambiguity and diversity of information. The figures that emerge within the shifting colors, depending on the viewer’s angle, visually represent the diversity of information and the differences in individual perspectives. 【ステートメント】
テレビ、スマートフォン、VRゴーグルなどの現代においてデバイスには、ある一つの共通点がある。「光をどの様に見せるか」について考えられ設計されている。没入感(VR)や携帯性(スマートフォン)を重視したものなど時代と共に「光」の見せ方も変化してきた。中でも現代人の「光」に対する意識についてを本展示のシリーズでのテーマとしている。
現代人の多くがスマホなどのデバイスを通じて情報に触れ、インプットした情報をSNSを通じて拡散していく。
インプット、アウトプットでは発光する画面の「光」利用し情報のやり取りをする。つまり「光（情報）」から始まり「光（情報）」に終わる一連の日常の動作がある。本展示においては「光の情報としての側面」と「光をどう見せるか」について絵画として考えた。
制作過程としてデジタル上での下書きを作成する。それを「光（情報）」に見立て、その下書きを元に画面へ偏光色を含む絵具を用いて描き込む。それは「現実での行動を元にSNSの投稿をし、デジタル上の情報が現実によって更新され塗り替えられる瞬間」を表現している。本展覧会のタイトル「PRISM」は光の波長をより分け観察をする光学の道具の名称である。光の角度によって見え方が変化する偏光色を扱う本展示の作品に準えた。異なった色への変化は現代の情報の多様性と個々の捉え方の違いを表している。

[Statement]
Devices like televisions, smartphones, and VR goggles share a common feature in today’s world: they are designed with a focus on “how to display light.” Over time, the way “light” is presented has evolved, whether for the purpose of immersion (VR) or portability (smartphones).This series explores the modern consciousness of “light.” Today, many people engage with information through devices like smartphones and then spread that information via social media. This process of input and output revolves around the use of illuminated screens. Essentially, our daily actions begin and end with “light (information).”In this exhibition, I have considered the “aspect of light as information” and “how light is displayed” in the context of painting. The creative process starts with a digital sketch, which is regarded as “light (information).” This sketch is then transferred onto the canvas using paints that include polarized colors, representing “the moment when digital information is updated and transformed by real-world actions as it is shared on social media.”The exhibition title, “PRISM,” refers to an optical instrument that separates and analyzes the wavelengths of light. This name is fitting for the series, where polarized colors shift and change depending on the angle of the light, symbolizing the diversity of modern information and the varying ways it is interpreted.
