Welcome to Science Education Book Club in Japan!

Science Education Book Club in Japan は、理科教育・科学教育に関する本のオンライン読書会です。

新型コロナウイルスの流行により、どこかに集まって対面で議論することが難しい状況にあります。そこで、Zoomなどのアプリケーションを利用してオンラインで集まることで、学びを止めずに継続できるのではないかと考え、このような読書会を企画するに至りました。オンライン読書会は、ポストコロナ時代の新しい学びの形です。

現在、メンバーには大学教員、大学院生、学校教員が参加し、毎週金曜の午後にオンラインミーティングを実施しています。

オンライン読書会では、1冊の本を決めてディスカッションしながら読み進めていくことを基本とします。1章ごとに1人ずつ担当者を決め、毎週、担当者が簡単な内容の整理をプレゼンした上で、参加者で議論を重ねていきます。

現在は、1冊目の本として、「Values in Science Education: The Shifting Sands」を選定し、科学教育の価値について少しずつ議論を進めているところです。

Science Education Book Club in Japan is an online book club on science education.

The new coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult to get together somewhere for face-to-face discussions in. So, we continue learning by gathering online using applications such as Zoom. Online book club is a new form of learning group in the post-Corona era.

Currently, members include university faculty, graduate students, and school teacher, and we meet online every Friday afternoon.

Our group would choose one book to read and discuss. One person was assigned to each chapter of the book, and each week the person in charge presented a brief organization of the content. The participants are encouraged to discuss the results.

We are currently working on the first book, "Values in Science Education: the Shifting Sands" was selected to gradually advance the discussion on the value of science education.

We are always looking for participants. You can join us halfway through or as a one-time participant that you are interested in. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us on Twitter or other SNS!
