ドゥバッハ大使、赤十字国際委員会（ICRC）・日本赤十字社・在日スイス大使館との共同開催展「War in Cities」の内覧会に出席
12月18日（水）、ドゥバッハ駐日スイス大使は横浜で開催された「War in Cities」展の内覧会に出席しました。在日スイス大使館、赤十字国際委員会（ICRC）、日本赤十字社との共催による本展は、神奈川県の後援を受け、横浜・みなとみらいで開催されています。本会には、黒岩祐治神奈川県知事をはじめ、外務省や防衛省の関係者、さらに、報道関係者など約70名が集まり、展示の解説に熱心に聞き入りました。
展示品は全て、激しい戦闘が行われたイラクで収集されたもので、いかに市街地での戦闘が人々の暮らしに影響を与えるのかを実感できます。今回、日本での開催にあたり、実際に触れられる東京大学大学院 渡邉英徳研究室と八王子平和・原爆資料館のコンテンツも展示も同時に展示されています。
内覧会後のレセプションで、ドゥバッハ大使は、今年75周年を迎える1949年ジュネーヴ諸条約の普遍的かつ永続的な重要性について言及しました。
展覧会は12月25日まで横浜・クイーンズスクエア内の「みなとみらいギャラリーA」で観覧できます（入館・観覧費無料）。
Ambassador Dubach attends press preview of “War in Cities” exhibition in cooperation with ICRC and JRCS
On Wednesday, 18 December, Ambassador Roger Dubach attended the press viewing of the exhibition “War in Cities” in Yokohama, which is a collaborative effort by the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Japanese Red Cross Society and has been kindly supported by Kanagawa Prefecture. The event in Minato Mirai was attended by around 70 people, including the Governor of Kanagawa as well as officials from MOFA and MOD and many members of the press.
The travelling exhibition illustrates the effects of war on urban populations by displaying personal belongings collected in Iraq. In Japan, the exhibition has been supplemented by artifacts from Hiroshima provided by the Hachioji Peace and Atomic Bomb Museum and a virtual reality experience developed by Prof. Hidenori Watanabe from the University of Tokyo. During his speech at the subsequent reception, Ambassador Dubach emphasised the enduring and universal relevance of the Geneva Conventions of 1949, which turn 75 this year. The exhibition still runs until the 25 December and can be viewed free of charge in Minato Mirai Gallery A in Queen’s Square, Yokohama.
