「セミファイナルまででした。オーケストラと演奏したかった。その後辛くて傷心旅行」

6段階ですね。最初ビデオ審査があって、予備審査に160人が残る。そこから半数ずつに絞られていくんですが、予備予選、ファースト、セカンドときて、サードがセミファイナル。僕はセミファイナルまででした。最後まで行けばオーケストラと共演できるんですが…。

――ご自身ではファイナルまで行くと思っていました？

もちろん目指していましたし、オーケストラと演奏したかった。だから当時は、そこに残るのも苦痛だったので、終わってすぐワルシャワからパリに向かいました。僕の先生がパリにいたので会いに行ってお礼をして、その後ヨーロッパを2週間くらい放浪しました。

--Did you think you would make it to the finals?

I was aiming for the future and wanted to perform with an orchestra. So at that time, it was hard for me to stay there, so I left Warsaw for Paris as soon as it was over. My teacher was in Paris, so I went to see him and thank him, and then we wandered around Europe for about two weeks.
