嘘が現実になる少年

The Boy Whose Lies Became Reality

ジョーという少年は、とにかく嘘をつくのが大好きだった。
Joe was a boy who simply loved to tell lies.

しかし、彼の嘘は普通の嘘とは少し違っていた。
But his lies were a bit different from ordinary ones.

ある日、彼は友達の前でこう言った。「昨日、僕はドラゴンを見たんだ！」
One day, in front of his friends, he said, "Yesterday, I saw a dragon!"

友達は笑って「そんなの信じないよ」と言ったが、その晩、本当にドラゴンが町に現れた。
His friends laughed, saying, "We don't believe you," but that very night, a dragon actually appeared in the town.

ジョーは驚いたが、それが偶然だと思い、次の日も嘘をつき続けた。
Joe was surprised but thought it was just a coincidence, so he kept lying the next day.

「実は僕、学校の地下に秘密のトンネルを見つけたんだ」と彼は言った。
"I actually found a secret tunnel under the school," he said.

次の日、先生が校庭の地下工事中に、誰も知らなかったトンネルを発見したのだ。
The next day, during construction under the schoolyard, the teachers discovered a tunnel no one knew about.

ジョーの嘘が本当に次々と現実になっていくことに気づいたとき、彼はその力を面白がって使い続けた。
When Joe realized that his lies were becoming true one by one, he continued to use this power for fun.

「僕は世界で一番速く走れるんだ」と言えば、翌日には学校の陸上競技大会で世界記録を出してしまった。
When he said, "I can run faster than anyone in the world," the next day he set a world record at the school track meet.

友達や大人たちは、彼の不思議な力に驚き、彼をヒーローのように扱い始めた。
His friends and even adults were astonished by his strange power, and they started treating him like a hero.

だが、ある日、ジョーはとんでもない嘘をついてしまった。
But one day, Joe told a terrible lie.

「みんな知らないけど、この町には大きな隕石が向かっているんだ。明日落ちるよ。」
"Nobody knows this, but a giant meteor is heading for our town. It'll hit tomorrow."

その時、町全体がパニックに陥った。
At that moment, the entire town fell into panic.

人々は避難し始め、ニュースも報道し、町中が大混乱に。
People started evacuating, the news covered the story, and chaos engulfed the town.

ジョーは、自分が嘘で引き起こした大騒ぎをどうにかしなければならないことに気づいた。
Joe realized he had to do something about the mess caused by his lie.

彼は勇気を振り絞ってこう言った。「あの隕石は途中で燃え尽きて、地球には落ちないよ。」
He gathered all his courage and said, "That meteor will burn up before it hits Earth."

そして、なんと本当に隕石は大気圏で燃え尽き、町は無事だった。
And sure enough, the meteor burned up in the atmosphere, and the town was safe.

ジョーはその日から、嘘の使い方に気をつけるようになった。
From that day on, Joe became much more careful about how he used his lies.

彼は学んだ。嘘は時には面白いかもしれないが、その力は大きな責任を伴うものだということを。
He learned that while lies can be fun, the power they hold comes with great responsibility.

そして、ジョーはもう無責任に嘘をつくことはやめた。
And Joe stopped telling lies irresponsibly.

だが、たまに冗談で言う。「僕、今度は空を飛べるようになりたいんだけど。」
But sometimes, as a joke, he would say, "Maybe next time, I'll learn how to fly."

友達はいつも笑って答える。「それはまた本当になるかもね！」
And his friends would always laugh, replying, "That might just come true too!"
