It was a chilly October afternoon, just days before Halloween, and the air was filled with the excitement of the upcoming festival.

ハロウィンまであと数日、肌寒い10月の午後で、街中がこれからの祭りの楽しさでいっぱいだった。

Momo and Hana, two high school girls with a shared love for mischief, were plotting their annual Halloween prank.

いたずら好きで有名な高校生の桃と花は、毎年恒例のハロウィンのいたずらを企てていた。

"Okay, Hana, this year we go big," Momo said, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

「花、今年は大きくやるわよ！」と、桃はいたずらっぽく目を輝かせた。

"Big? What are you thinking?" Hana replied, already a little suspicious.

「大きく？何を考えてるの？」と、花は少し疑いながら答えた。

Momo grinned and pulled out a giant pumpkin from her bag, one that was clearly too big to fit.

桃はニヤリと笑い、袋から巨大なかぼちゃを取り出した。それは明らかに袋に収まる大きさではなかった。

"How... how did you even carry that?!" Hana gasped.

「どうやってそれ持ってきたのよ!?」と花は驚いて叫んだ。

"It's not about how, it's about what we're gonna do with it!" Momo replied with a mischievous smirk.

「どうやってじゃなくて、これで何をするかが重要よ！」と、桃はいたずらっぽく笑った。

Her plan was simple: place the pumpkin on the teacher's desk before class started.

彼女の計画は単純だった。授業が始まる前に先生の机にかぼちゃを置くというものだ。

"You're crazy! Mr. Tanaka will lose it!" Hana laughed, but she was already on board.

「あなた正気？田中先生が怒るわよ！」と花は笑いながらも、すでに参加する気満々だった。

The next morning, Momo snuck into the classroom early with Hana trailing behind.

翌朝、桃は花を引き連れて早めに教室に忍び込んだ。

They placed the oversized pumpkin right in the middle of the desk and hurried out before anyone saw them.

二人は巨大なかぼちゃを机の真ん中に置き、誰にも見つからないように急いで逃げた。

When Mr. Tanaka walked in, his expression was priceless. "What on earth is this?!" he exclaimed.

田中先生が教室に入ってきた時の表情はプライスレスだった。「これは一体何だ!?」と叫んだ。

The class burst into laughter, but Momo and Hana couldn't keep a straight face either.

教室は爆笑に包まれたが、桃と花も真面目な顔を保つことができなかった。

But then, Mr. Tanaka smiled. "Well, it's a good pumpkin, at least!"

しかし、その後、田中先生は笑った。「まあ、少なくともいいかぼちゃだな！」

The prank had been a success, but as they left the classroom, Hana turned to Momo. "Next year, I'm choosing the prank!"

いたずらは成功だったが、教室を出た後、花は桃に向かって言った。「来年は私がいたずらを選ぶからね！」

"Deal!" Momo laughed, already plotting her next big idea.
