Sid Wang
Product Manager
Hello developers. This is Sid Wang, Product Manager of Pretia AR Cloud Platform. After the previous summer release, we started preparing a set of new things to deliver. Now it’s time to talk about what we had prepared for you.
3D Scanner - auto-login support
From version 0.7.0, we added support to save your login credential to Google(on Android) or to Keychain(on iOS). Going forward you don’t need to type your email and password every single time.
SDK
Some important changes are introduced to the latest version of SDK
Multiplayer matchmaking support. In the previous version, the implementation will be all players in the same app will play in the same session. With the update, it is possible to labelize players which makes it possible to perform matchmaking.
New Reloc API. From this version we introduced a new version of API, which is easier to use and also has better efficiency. The old version of API will be valid until 2023/1/31. We strongly suggest you to migrate to the new version ASAP.
Developer Console
We have a few new features and UI changes have been introduced in the developer console.
We restructured the website and developer console. This improves the overall flow, it’s also going to be the foundation for new designs and features in the future.
Following the site restructuring, we changed the domain of Developer Console from developers.pretiaar.com to arcloud.pretiaar.com/console/. And the documentation site is changed from docs.developers.pretiaar.com to docs.arcloud.pretiaar.com
API Key management - a different way to connect from SDK to AR Cloud. With this method you don’t need to share out the credential for accessing AR Cloud services.
New Samples
We prepared 2 samples which we believe will be helpful.
Heatmap sample: a sample that showcases a way to overlay material over the camera vision based on relocation result.
Multimap Reloc Sample: a sample that showcases how to relocalize and display content with 2 locations in the same app.
The samples will be hosted on a public GitHub repo. We will have another announcement once the repo is ready.
Moving from Slack to Discord
Until so far we uses Slack for customer communication. We had decided to move to discord which would be better fulfilling the needs. The old Slack community will be still there for a while, so far we don’t plan to close it, while all the future communication will be on Discord
