diet は「ダイエット食」の意味
on は depend on や live on「～を常食とする」の on
運動でダイエットしている

weight に所有格を付けると、その人の全体重を表す。
burn off calories
カロリーを消費する
reduce (one’s) calorie intake
カロリー摂取量を減らす
count one’s [the] calories to lose weight
ダイエットのためにカロリーを計算する
ダイエットをしているので，ケーキはやめておきます
○ I shouldn’t have the cake because I’m on a diet.
× I shouldn’t have the cake because I’m doing a diet.
→「ダイエットする」という場合，do a diet とはいわない．「ダイエット中である」という場合は be on a diet，「ダイエットを始める」という場合は「go on [OR start] a diet を用いる．

チョコレートはカロリーが高い
この in は rich in「〜に富んでいる」の in と同じ
She’s very calorie conscious［calorie-conscious］.
彼女はとてもカロリーを気にしている.
These days I have gained weight, so I’m afraid to get on the scale.

私は太りやすい［太りにくい］体質だ
I gain［don’t gain］weight easily.
ファーストフードの食べすぎで太りすぎの子供が増えている
The number of overweight children is increasing because they are eating too much fast food.
おなかまわりにぜい肉がついてきた
I'm putting on some flab around my waist.
水泳はぜい肉を落とすよい運動になる
Swimming is a good exercise to get rid of flab.
If you want to get rid of fat, exercise!
