ループを多用して音の素材をカットアップしたりリミックスしたり、このような方法の曲作りに向いているDAW(Digital Audio Workstation)は、Ableton Liveであろう。Liveはもともとが音声データを切り貼りしていく発想でデザインされたソフトウェアであった。たしか最初はMIDIさえ搭載されていなかったような気がする。DAWには、MIDIシーケンサーが進化したものと、HDレコーディングが発祥のものと、似ているが系統が異なるものがある。前者はApple Logic ProやSteinberg Cubaseなど、後者ProToolsなどである。前者の仲間であるMOTU Digital Performer(DP)というソフトウェアがある。実はDPは、音楽制作ソフトの歴史の中では最も古いものの一つで、Apple Macintosh専用として発表されたのは、約40年も前の1985年である。その時はPerformerという名前で、MIDIシーケンスのためのソフトウェアであった。1992年にDigital Performerとなり、着実な進化を遂げている。Ableton LiveはMax for Liveを搭載し、実験的な音作りに親和性がある。これによって、ダンスミュージックなどの最先端の音楽制作に多く使われている現状であるが、DPも負けてはいない。もともとがテープレコーダーのインターフェイスを用いていたというデザインも温存、MIDIデータの扱いや精度、音質に関しては、他の追随を許さない。細かいことを積み上げて数多く作るのには向いていて、今も熱狂的なファンに支えられている。

この曲はDPによって作成されている。ドローン的なシーケンス音はModularSynthsizerの素材をDPに取り込んで構成、他はソフトシンセ、Arturia Jup-8, Korg TRITON, wavestate native, Softube Model 80, などを使用している。

This song was created using DP. The drone-like sequence sounds were created by importing ModularSynthsizer material into DP, and the rest were created using software synths such as the Arturia Jup-8, Korg TRITON, wavestate native, and Softube Model 80.
