中学生の時に自宅を焼失

ネコの声を限りの悲鳴で 火の海の中目覚めた
It was a terrified scream, shriek in panic at the top of cat’s lungs that woke father up in flames.
なす術なく命からがら逃げだす
He could do nothing against the fire except removing the TV and barely escaped with his life.
危機一髪で助かったことに感謝　
Helga and her family felt grateful that he had a narrow escape from death.
祖母の家に転がり込む　
They all tumbled into the house of Helga’s grandmother who had lived next door. But there was no space at all for Helga to study.
あてがわれたのは一部屋だけ
Because only one room was provided for the family.
記憶があいまい
Helga couldn’t remember much about those days.
勉強するスペースが必要
Anyway she really needed to make space for her.
そんなわけで薬師堂の宿坊に引っ越す
Such being the case, after the fire she eventually moved into the shrine lodging which was just in front of the house of her grandmother.
高校卒業まで4年間そこで暮らした。
She had lived there for four years until the end of high school.
