UC Berkeley LLM生が受講できるMBA科目

UC Berkeleyのロースクール生は、UC BerkeleyのMBA(Haas School of Business)のコースを、Haasから許可を得ることで履修することができます(一部科目は不要)。私も、2021年春学期にMBA科目のFundamentals of Businessを履修しました。

Berkeley Lawにいながら、実際にどのようなMBA科目を履修できるか記事にしたいと思います。

※私がUC Berkeleyに在学していた2021年春学期時点での経験に基づきますので、履修できる科目は毎年変わり得ることをご了承ください。

2021年春学期に履修できたMBA科目(履修許可は不要)

・Fundamentals of Business

Haas以外の学生のためにつくられた特別なコースです。ビジネスを専攻していない学生が、ビジネスの中心的な概念を理解するために、Marketing and Strategy, Leadership and Management, Accounting and Financeを学ぶことができます。

・Navigating Life’s Financial Decisions

このコースでは、人生における経済的な意思決定（キャリア選択、貯蓄、投資、保険など）について理解し、自分の状況に合った選択をできるようになることが目的です。

履修できる単位数

LLM生は法律科目以外を4単位まで履修することができます。

ただし、これはLLMプログラムの卒業に必要な単位数(21単位)にはカウントされません。ですので、私は、法律科目の履修との兼ね合いに苦労しました。これはLLMプログラムにも言えることですが、あまり履修科目を増やしすぎると予習・復習・レポート提出・試験に追われて大変です。

実際に、LLM生がMBA科目を履修するためには履修の組み方を工夫する必要があると思いますが、UC Berkeleyでできることの一つとしてご紹介しました。私はMBAの授業にも興味があったので、ロースクールに通いながらHaasのコースも履修することができて有意義でした。
