今回はベドーズの'The Phantom-Wooer'をやります。

ロマン派の詩人ベドーズは超自然ものが得意です。今回は彼の代表作の一つ「亡霊の求愛者」という題の詩です。人間の求愛者とはどこが違うのでしょうか。

A ghost, that loved a lady fair,
Ever in the starry air
Of midnight at her pillow stood;
And, with a sweetness skies above

Young soul put off your flesh, and come

Our bed is lovely, dark, and sweet;
The earth will swing us, as she goes,
